AN ISLAMIC JUDICIAL QUERY

QUESTION: What is the ruling of the Ulema of Islam on the following matter:
Zaid, who is a Muslim and believes in Almighty Allah and the Prophethood of his beloved Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), recites after every Salaah and at other times, the following verses:As Salaatu Was Salaamu Alaika Ya Rasoolullah
- "Peace and Blessings upon you, O Messenger of Allah."Or As Alukash Shafaa'atu Ya Rasoolullah - "I seek from you Shafaa'at (Intercession), O Messenger of Allah." I ask the learned Scholars of Islam:

Are such calls to the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) permitted in Islam?
What is the ruling of the Learned Scholars concerning individuals who refer to those who call to the Prophets and Saints as Kaafirs and Mushriks?

Please enlighten us on this. We pray that you enjoy the mercy of Allah on the Day of Judgement. Aameen.

ANSWER:

Alhamudullilahi wa Kafaa Was Salaatu Was Salaamu alaa Habeebihil Mustafa wa Aalihi Wa Ashaabihi Oolis Sidqi Was Safaa
The utterance of the above words are indeed permitted and no person other than those who are misled would argue with it. For reference on this matter, we shall consult the following great Jurists of Islam and their books:-

"Shifa-us-Siqaam",by Imaam Taqi'udeen Abul Hasan Subki (radi Allahu anhu),
"Mawaahibbe Ladunnia", by Imaam Ahmed Qastalaani (radi Allahu anhu), being the Sharah (Commentary) of Sahih-ul-Bukhari,
"Sharah of the Muwaahibbe Laddunnia", by Allama Zarqaani (radi Allahu anhu),
"Mutaali-ul-Mussarraat" by Imaam Allama Faasi (radi Allahu anhu),
"Sharah of Mishkaat", by Allama Mulla Ali Qaari (radi Allahu anhu),
"Ashatul Lamaat", including the books, "Jazbul Quloob" and "Madaarijun Nubuwat", by Shaikh Muhaqqiq Allama Abdul Haq Muhaddis Dehlwi (radi Allahu anhu),
"Afdalul Qur'a", which is the "Sharah of Ummul Qur'a" by Imaam ibn Hajar Makki (radi Allahu anhu).

I will now quote a Hadith, proving that it is permissible to utter the above mentioned words. This Hadith has been certified authentic by the following great Scholars of Islam:-

Imaam Nisaai (radi Allahu anhu),
Imaam Tirmidhi (radi Allahu anhu),
Imaam ibn Maaja (radi Allahu anhu),
Imaam Haakim (radi Allahu anhu),
Imaam Baihaqi (radi Allahu anhu),
Imaam ibn Hazeema (radi Allahu anhu),
Imaam Abul Qasim Tabraani (radi Allahu anhu),
Imaam Manzari (radi Allahu anhu),
Imaam Muslim (radi Allahu anhu),
Imaam Bukhari (radi Allahu anhu).

All the above mentioned Scholars of Ahadith, narrate on the authority of Hazrat Uthman bin Haneef (radi Allahu anhu), that a Sahabi who was blind by birth was taught a special Du'a by the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), which he was to recite after every Salaah.

The Du'a is as follows: Allahumma Inni As Aluka Wa Ata Wajjahu Ilaika Binabiyika Muhammadin Nabiyyir rahmati Ya Muhammadu Inni Ata Wajjahu Bika ila Rabbi Fi Haajati haazihi lituqda li. Allahumma Fashaf'fi'u Fiya. "O Allah, I ask from you, and turn towards you through the Wasila (Medium) of Your Nabi Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), who is indeed a Prophet of Mercy. O Muhammad, with your Wasila (Medium) I turn towards Allah for my need so that it may be bestowed. O Allah, accept the Prophet's intercession for me."
Imaam Tabraani (radi Allahu anhu), in his "Muhjam" records the following incident:

A person in dire need visited Ameerul Mu'mineen Hazrat Uthman Ghani (radi Allah anhu). The Caliph was busy with some other work and he did not attend to his need. Thereafter, the person went to Hazrat Uthman bin Haneef (radi Allahu anhu) and complained about the matter. Hazrat Uthman bin Haneef (radi Allahu anhu) ordered the man to perform the Wudhu (ablution), enter the musjid and to offer two Rakaats of Nafil Salaah. He was then to recite the following Du'a:Allahumma Inni As Aluka Wa Ata Wajjahu Ilaika Binabiyina Nabiyyir rahmati Ya Muhammadu Inni Ata Wajjahu Bika ila Rabbi Fayadiha Haajati wa tazkuru haajataka wa ruh illaya hatta arooha ma'aka. "O Allah, I beg of you and I seek your assistance, with the Wasila (Medium) of your beloved Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) who is the Prophet of Mercy. O Muhammad! I turn to Allah with your Wasila so that my needs be fulfilled."

Thereafter, he was told to mention his need. On completion, he was told to visit Hazrat Uthman bin Haneef (radi Allahu anhu), so that both could visit the august court of Hazrat Uthman Ghani (radi Allahu anhu). When he presented himself in front of the great Caliph, he was not only shown great respect, but his need and wish were also immediately granted. The Caliph, then addressing the man stated: "In future if you require any favour, come immediately to me."

After they had left the court of the great Caliph, the man thanked Hazrat Uthman bin Haneef (radi Allahu anhu) for mentioning him to the Caliph, the latter clearly stated that he had not even approached the Caliph. He then stated: "By Allah, I saw the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) teaching the very same Du'a to a blind man. Miraculously, the blind man then approached us before we could even complete our conversation, and it appeared as if he had never been blind."

Imaam Tabraani and Imaam Munzari (radi Allahu anhuma) have both stated that this Hadith is authentic.
Imaam Bukhari (radi Allahu anhu) in his "Kitaabul Adaabul Mufrad", Imaam Ibnus Sinni and Imaam ibn Bashkool (radi Allahu anhuma) have recorded that, Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Omar (radi Allahu anhu) once suffered from a cramp. Someone advised him to remember the person whom he loved the most. The great companion then proclaimed loudly, "Ya Muhammadah." It is recorded that he was immediately relieved.
Imaam Nawawi (radi Allahu anhu) in his commentary of the Sahih Muslim, including in his book, "Kitaabul Azkaar", records that some individuals were sitting in the company of Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhu), when suddenly one of them suffered from cramps. The great companion advised the man to remember the person whom he loved the most. The man proclaimed, "Ya Muhammadah." He was immediately cured. There are in fact many Ashbaab who narrate incidents of similar incident.
Substantiating this, Allama Shahaab Khafaaji Misri (radi Allahu anhu) states in his "Naseem-ur Riyaaz" a commentary of the "Shifa" by Imaam Qaadi Ayaaz (radi Allahu anhu), that it is an established practice of the people of Medina Shareef to proclaim "Ya Muhammadah" in times of difficulty and anxiety.
Hazrat Bilal bin Al Haarith Muzani (radi Allahu anhu) states: A drought which was known as "Aamur Ramadah" once occurred during the Caliphate of Hazrat Umar Al Farouk (radi Allahu anhu). His tribe the Bani Muzaina approached him and complained that they were dying of hunger, and thus requested the Caliph to sacrifice a few sheep. When he told them that there was nothing left of the sheep, they still insisted. After the sheep were cut and cleaned they noticed that only red bones were to be seen. Hazrat Bilal (radi Allahu anhu), seeing this state of affairs, proclaimed loudly, "Ya Muhammadah", in grief and concern.

He was then blessed with seeing the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in his dream, who informed him of future glad tidings which did occur later on.
Imaam-e-Mujtahid Sayyidi Abdur Rahman Huzaili Kufi Masoodi (radi Allahu anhu), was the grandson of Hazrat Abdullah ibn Masood (radi Allahu anhu). He was also a very great Jurist and a Taabi'in of high rank. It is stated that he used to wear a long hat with the inscribed words, "Muhammad, Ya Mansoor."
This was also confirmed by Imam Hasheem bin Jameel Az Zaaki (radi Allahu anhu) who was among the great Ulema and Muhadditheen of the time states: "I saw him (ie, Hazrat Abdur Rahman Masoodi) place a long hat on his head, with the words inscribed, 'Muhammad, Ya Mansoor'."
It is recorded in the Fatawa of Hazrat Imaam, Shaikul Islam, Shahaab Ramli Ansaari whether it was permissible for the people to invoke the names of Prophets, Saints and Ulema in times of difficulty as they normally did. The great scholar replied: "Undoubtedly it is permissible to seek the assistance of great Prophets, Saints and Ulema. They do in fact assist, even after they have departed from this world."
Imaam Allama Khairudeen Ramli (radi Allahu anhu), the illustrious teacher of the scholar who has written the authentic book on Islamic Jurisprudence, "Durre Mukhtaar", states in his "Fatawa Khayria": "People who proclaim, Ya Sheikh Abdul Qaadir (are merely emulating) a call, what, therefore, is the reason for it, not to be permissible?"
Sayyidi Jamal bin Abdullah bin Omar Makki (radi Allahu anhu), in his Fatawa states that he was questioned about those people who proclaim in times of difficulty, "Ya Rasoolullah, Ya Ali, Ya Sheikh Abdul Qaadir" as to these proclamations being permissible in Islam. The great scholar replied: "Yes, these proclamations are permissible, to call to them is permissible including using their names as Wasilas. This is permissible in the light of the Shari'ah. Such an act is desirable and approved. Only those individuals who are stubborn and arrogant would oppose or question this reality, and they certainly are unfortunate and deprived of the Barakaat (blessing) of the Awliya Allah."
Imaan ibn Jouzi (radi Allahu anhu), In his book, "Oyunil Hikaayat", narrates a strange and amazing incident of three brothers who were constantly engaged in Jihad (Holy Islamic War). He narrates: Once, while engaged in Jihad with the Christians of Rome, they were captured and tortured. The King informed them that if they adopted the religion of Christianity he would set them free. The brothers refused to do so. Instead they all proclaimed aloud, "Ya Muhammadah." The King became furious and ordered two of the brothers to be thrown into boiling oil. After a while, the youngest escaped from the clutches of his capturers accompanied by the daughter of the King, whom herself was amazed at the piety of the young Muslim.

Six months later when they were about to be married, the two martyred brothers amazingly appeared accompanied by a group of Angels. When it was inquired as to how they had survived they replied: "When you saw us being thrown into the boiling oil, you indeed saw the truth, yet as we entered the pot, we entered into the high stages of Jannah."

Imam ibn Jouzi (radi Allahu anhu) states that the brothers lived in Syria and were extremely famous. Many couplets have been written in their praise. This incident has been shortened.

Our object is to highlight how beneficial it is to call out to the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). We have seen that the brothers at a time of extreme perils and danger did not hesitate in calling to the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). How were they rewarded? Very clearly they were rewarded with such blessing that the two Shuhada immediately entered Jannah, while the youngest brother was saved and married the King's daughter, and the two Shuhada were actually given permission to attend the marriage of their younger brother accompanied by a group of Angels.

Where are those persons who proclaim that it is Haraam to call on great Prophets and Saints for assistance? If they firmly believe that it is Haraam, why have the great scholars clarified this action (of calling to Prophet's and Saints) as permissible and extremely beneficial?
Huzoor Pur-Noor, Sayiddina Ghous-e-A'zam (radi Allahu anhu), states: "If a person in distress or hardships calls out to me, his hardship will be eradicated. If a person uses my name as his Wasila (medium) and pleads to Allah, his need will be fulfilled."

The great Saint then goes on to describe a Salaah, which can be extremely beneficial. He states: "A person should perform two Rakaats of Salaah, in every Rakaat he should recite eleven times the Sura Faatiha and thereafter Sura Ikhlaas eleven times. After completing the Salaah, he should recite the Durood and Salaam upon the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), then remembering me he should proceed eleven steps towards the direction of Baghdad invoking my name in every step, including mentioning his need and wish. In this manner (Allah willing) his need and wish will be granted."
The above-mentioned medicant has been described and mentioned by scholars such as, Imaam Abul Hasan Ali bin Jareer, Imaam Abdullah bin Asad Yafa'ee Makki, Shaikh Mulla Ali Qaari, Moulana Abul Ma'aali Mohammed Muslimi Qaderi and Shaikh-e-Muhaqqiq Moulana Abdul Haq Muhaddis Dehlwi (radi Allahu anhum) in their treaties, "Bahjatul Asraar", "Khulaasatul Mafaakhir", "Nuzhatul Khaatir", "Toh'fa'ee Qaderia" and "Zubdatul Aasaar", among others. One should also remember that the great Ulema and Saints attribute extreme authenticity to the mentioned article.

A point to mention about Imam Abul Hasan Noorudeen Ali (radi Allahu anhu), the author of "Bahjatul Asraar", is that aside from being a great Sufi, he was also considered to be a great Imaam of Qiraat. It is reported that he received his spiritual training under the guidance of Hazrat Sayyidi Abu Swaleh Nasr (radi Allahu anhu), the great grandson of Hazrat Ghousal Azam (radi Allahu anhu).

Describing the greatness and stature of the book, "Bahjatul Asraar", Hazrat Abdul Haq Muhaddis (radi Allahu anhu) in his book, "Zubdatul Aasaar", states that the book is indeed considered to be extremely authentic and factual in the eyes of the distinguished and esteemed Ulema and Saints. The book has also been used as a reference on many occasions.
Imaam Arif Billah Sayyidi Abdul Wahab Sha'raani (radi Allahu anhu), in his book, "Lawaaqi-ul-Anwaar Fi Tabqaatil Akhyaar", records a strange and miraculous incident.

It is recorded that a Mureed of Sayyidi Mohammed Khawri (radi Allahu anhu) was once passing through the market, when the foot of the animal he was riding slipped. In extreme panic he screamed, "Ya Sayyidi Muhammad, Ya Ghamri!" Co-incidently, in that very market place, the captured ruler ibn Omar Sa'eed was also passing through. He inquired from the Mureed as to who was Sayyidi Mohammed. When he was told who he was, he asked permission to use the name of the Murshid so that he could also be released. As soon as he had proclaimed the name of the great Wali, the spiritual master appeared and driving away the capturers, freed the ruler. The Shaikh then blessed the ruler, and thereafter departed.
A similar incident is mentioned of Sayyidi Shamsudeen Mohammed Hanafi (radi Allahu anhu). It is stated that the great Saint while performing Wudhu removed his sandal and threw it with tremendous fury and it disappeared into thin air. He then removed his other sandal and advised one of his Mureeds to retain it until such time that the first sandal was returned.

After some time a traveller from Syria arrived with the missing sandal and some gifts for Hazrat Shamsudeen (radi Allahu anhu). He then narrated that while he was travelling, he was attacked by a highwayman, who overpowered him and wanted to slit his throat. Under this extreme situation he called out aloud, "Ya Sayyidi Muhammad, Ya Hanafi." Suddenly, a sandal appeared from thin air and struck the robber. This Mureed then stated that it was indeed through the Wasila and power of his Murshid that he had been saved.
In the very same book it is recorded that when the Spiritual Master, Hazrat Sayyidi Shamsudeen Hanafi (radi Allahu anhu) was on his death-bed, he called his Mureeds and said: "If anyone has any wish or need, he should come to my grave, I will indeed help him in fulfilling it. Remember between you and me, there is merely a handful of sand, and how can a mere handful of sand be a screen between a Murshid and his Mureed. If the sand does become a screen, then the murshid cannot be perfect a Man (Insaan-e-Kaamil)."
Incidents of similar nature are recorded by Hazrat Imaam Abdul Wahab Sha'raani (radi Allahu anhu) in his book, "Tabqaat-e-Kubra." We shall quote a few.
Sayyidi Mohammed Farghal (radi Allahu anhu) states: "I am indeed amongst those Saints who can assist you from the grave. If, therefore, you have any wish or need come to my grave and facing me, mention your requirements. I will fulfill them."
It is recorded that while Hazrat Sayyidi Madeen Ahmed Ashmooni (radi Allahu anhu) was performing the Wudhu, he suddenly threw his sandal towards the Eastern side of the city. A year later a man arrived and described a strange incident. He said: "My daughter was once walking in the jungle, when an evil man tried to entrap her. She did not at the time remember the name of her father's Murshid, yet in panic, she screamed, 'O Murshid of my father, save me!'. Suddenly, a sandal appeared from thin air and rendered the evil man unconscious." It is stated that the sandal is still in the possession of the mentioned family.
Among the excellences of Hazrat Sayyidi Moosa Abu Imraan (radi Allahu anhu), it is recorded that whenever his Mureeds used to call to him, he immediately use to assist them, even though the Mureed was as far away as a year's journey or even more.
Hazrat Shaikh-e-Muhaqqiq Abdul Haq Muhaddith Dehlwi (radi Allahu anhu), in his famous book, "Akhbaarul Akhyaar" mentions Shaikh Baha'udeen bin Ebraheem Ata'ullah Al Ansaari Ash Shattari (radi Allahu anhu), who is the author of a very famous book on Tasawwuf entitled "Risaala Shat'taaria", has recorded in his book a specific type of Zikr known as "Zikr-e-Kashful Arwah."

The great Saint mentions: "There are two ways of making the Zikr of 'Ya Ahmed' and 'Ya Muhammad'. The first way is to recite 'Ya Ahmed' from the right side and 'Ya Muhammad' from the left side, concentrating on the thought of 'Ya Mustafa.'

"The second method is to recite 'Ya Ahmed, Ya Ali, Ya Hasan, Ya Husain, Ya Fathima.' This is to be read from all six directions. In other words, one should begin with 'Ya Ahmed' till the end. Thereafter, the next name and so on. By performing this Zikr in the specified manner one will obtain the secrets of Kashful Arwah (Manifestation of the Souls).

"The Zikr of the names of Angels, which is performed in the same manner and which has the same effect, namely 'Ya Jibraeel, Ya Israeel, Ya Mikaeel, Ya Izraeel.' This is performed from all four sides and also results in Kashful Arwah.

"Another method is by reciting 'Ya Shaikh, Ya Shaikh' one thousand times in the following manner. The person should pronounce the word, 'Ya Shaikh' from the right side of the heart and at the time of pronouncing the word 'Shaikh' he should concentrate on striking it on the heart. Through this method, one can also achieve Kashful Arwah."
Discussing the life and teachings of Hazrat Moulana Jalalludeen Rumi (radi Allahu anhu), Hazrat Sayyidi Noorudeen Moulana Abdur Rahman Jaami (radi Allahu anhu) writes: At the last moments, before the passing away of Moulana Rumi (radi Allahu anhu), he revealed to his Mureeds a startling secret. He said: "Do not be sad at my passing away, because one hundred and fifty years after the passing away of Hazrat Mansoor (radi Allahu anhu), his Noor beamed on the soul of Hazrat Fareedudeen Attar (radi Allahu anhu) and became his Murshid (Spiritual Guide) in the spiritual world."

Moulana Rumi (radi Allahu anhu) then stated: "Whatever condition you may be in, remember me, so that I can be your protector and helper, irrespective of what state I may be in."

He further states: "In this world I have two types of relationships, one with my body and the other with you, and when, with the Mercy of Allah I am freed from this contact with my body and the world of loneliness is exposed to me, I will divert the attention of my soul to you."
Hazrat Shah Wali'ullah Dehlwi (radi Allahu anhu), in his book, "Ateebul Ghanum fi Madh-e-Sayyadal Arabi Wal Ajam", comments on the Quranic verse pertaining to the state of ecstasy in the love for the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). He states:

Wa Salla alaikal laahu Ya Khaira Khalqihi
Wa Ya Khaira Ma'moolin Ya Khaira Wa hibi
Wa Ya Khaira May yurja likashfira zee yatan
Wa man Jooduhu Qad faaqa Joodas sahaa'ibi
Wa anta mujeeri min hujoomi mulimatin
Iza anshabat filqalbi sharral makhaalib
"O Exceptional! Among those who can be depended on.
O Exceptional! Among those who can be depended upon to eradicate difficulty.
O Exceptional! Among those whose generosity showers more than rain.
I indeed testify to the fact that at the time when my heart is engulfed in this dilemma,
You are indeed the one who gives me assistance and consolation."

Under the same commentary, Shah Wali'ullah (radi Allahu anhu) states concerning those moments of difficulty in which it is most necessary to seek assistance from the sacred Soul of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). At the beginning of this chapter, he writes: "I cannot perceive any one besides the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) who, for the depressed person at times of calamities, will forward a helping hand."
The same scholar in his "Madhiyaa Hamziya" explains: In the august court of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) one should consider oneself insignificant and inferior. With a broken heart and with total sincerity one should call to the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in Du'a. The person will indeed attain Salvation if he states, "O Rasool of Allah! O Unique among the Creation! I seek your favour on the Day of Justice. On that Day when there will be a great test, only you, O Prophet of Allah, would give security from all calamity! I have turned to you for salvation and have my trust in you."
Hazrat Shah Wali'ullah (radi Allahu anhu), records a method for achieving and fulfilling one's needs and wishes in his book, "Al intibah fi Salasil-e-Awliya". He states: "One should first perform two Rakaats of Nafil Salaah. After completion he should recite the following - 111 times Durood Shareef, 111 times Kalima Tamjeed and 111 times 'Shay an Lillah, Ya Shaikh Abdal Qaadir Jilaani'."
From this book, it has been proven that all the great Luminaries (to be mentioned), believed in the proclamation of 'Shay an Lillah' as being a valid and a great solution to many unsolved problems. They also gave permission to their students and disciples to proclaim it, without any hesitation.

The names of some of these great Scholars and Saints are among others:
1. Ustaad and Shaikh-e-Hadith of Shah Wali'ulllah, Moulana Tahir Madani (radi Allahu anhuma),
2. His Shaikh and father, Moulana Ebraheem Kardi (radi Allahu anhu),
3. His Ustaad, Moulana Ahmed Kashshaashi (radi Allahu anhu),
4. His Ustaad, Moulana Ahmed Shanawi (radi Allahu anhu),
5. His grand Ustaad, Moulana Ahmed Nakhli (radi Allahu anhu),
  
  N.B. The above mentioned Scholars are also quoted in the sequence of Shah Sahebs Salasil-e-Ahadith (orders of Ahadith).
6. The Murshid of Shah Saheb, Shaikh Mohammed Lahoori (radi Allahu anhu), about whom in the book, "Al Intibah", the title of Shaikh Mu'ammar Thaqqa (the blessed and trustworthy master) is attributed, this title is also attributed to his Shaikh,
7. Shaikh Moulana Abdul Maalik and his Shaikh (radi Allahu anhu),
8. Shaikh Bayazeed Thaani and his Murshid (radi Allahu anhu),
9. Moulana Wajeehudeen Alawi (the commentator of the "Hidaayah" and the "Sharhah Waqaya"), including his Murshid (radi Allahu anhu),
10. Taajul Aarifeen, Shah Mohammed Ghous Gawalyari (radi Allahu anhu).
11. All the above Ulema and Awliya have recited the Naade Ali and the daily recital of "Ya Ali, Ya Ali."
For those wishing to gain more information on this subject, I (Imam Ahmed Raza) advise them to read the books, "Anhaarul Anwaar" and "Hayatul Mawaat fi Bayaani Samaa'il Amwaat", both written by A'la Hazrat Shah Ahmed Raza (radi Allahu anhu).
Shah Abdul Aziz Dehlwi (radi Allahu anhu), in his book, "Bustaanul Muhaditheen", praises Hazrat Sayyidi Ahmed Zarooq (radi Allahu anhu), by describing him as follows: "Hazrat-e-Arfa wa Ah'la, Imaamul Ulema and Nizaamul Awliya (The Highly Exalted Shaikh, Leader of the Ulema and the Governor of the Awliya). This great Saint is also among the Abdaal Sab'a (The Seven Magnificent Abdaal) and is an authority amongst the Sufis. Among his illustrious students are personalities like Imaam Shamsudeen Lagaani and Imaam Shahabudeen Qastalaani (radi Allahu anhuma). The Saint was a master in Shari'ah, Haqiqat and all Mystical Facets. Some of his books can be consulted to gain a better appreciation of his immense qualities."

Shah Abdul Aziz (radi Allahu anhu) further states: "In brief, the Saint was a man of exceptional attributes, to fully comprehend his qualities is indeed beyond comprehension."
Shah Abdul Aziz (radi Allahu anhu), then quotes two sentences stated by Hazrat Ahmed Zarooq (radi Allahu anhu), which further highlights his greatness, "I indeed bless my (Mureeds) with tranquillity during times of difficulty and perplexity, when cruelty and evil oppresses them and in times of misery and fear. Therefore (during these times) call to me 'Ya Zarooq', I will immediately come to your assistance."
Allama Ziyadi, Allama Ajhoori, Allama Dawoodi (who also happens to be the marginal writer of the "Sharah Minhaat") and Allama Shaami (radi Allahu anhum), have all prescribed a method for finding mislaid items. They state: "One should climb on to a high spot and offer Faatiha for Hazrat Sayyidi Ahmed bin Alwaan Yamaani (radi Allahu anhu). Thereafter invoking his name one should say, 'Ya Sayyidi Ahmed, Ya ibn Alwaan'."

All praise is due to Allah, in that this servant has compiled a book in which quotations from the generation of the Sahaba and from the generations of Ulema and Awliya following them have been mentioned.

As to those who are corrupted and hope to corrupt, we ask them what are their views on these great scholars and Saints who also believed that it was permissible to call out to great Saints and Prophets for assistance with the Harf-e-Nidaa? What will they label such great personalities, which include among others:

Now what is your opinion about these great Luminaries of Islam, who so clearly substantiate the belief that it is permissible to call upon Prophets and Saints for assistance. If you consider them to be Muslims, then Alhumdulilah, you are on the straight and correct path. On the other hand, if you consider them disbelievers then all we say is, "May Allah assist you in seeing the correct path." Aameen.

We would like to categorically state an amazing fact - how unfortunate is that group which considers Muslims from the generation of the Ashbaab to the present times as disbelievers and Mushriks (because they call upon Prophets, Saints and Ulema to help them in times of difficulty). They cannot be true "Muslims" who respect the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), if this is their belief concerning the Ulema and Saints of his Ummah.

The question of Disbelief and Belief has very clearly been explained in the book of Jurisprudence, "Durre Mukhtaar", yet there are individuals who themselves are misled and hope to deliberately mislead and confuse the Muslims so that their true state is not revealed.
The most beautiful proof of calling to the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) is in the Attahiyaat, wherein every worshipper salutes and calls unto the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). If by using the Nida, causes one to be guilty of Shirk, then how is it that it is found in the Salaah?

Some individuals state that, one does not have the intention of calling to the Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) in the Attahiyaat, rather one is merely conveying a message. This opinion is without basis. The religion of Islam has never commanded us to recite any Zikr, without pondering on its meaning. Therefore, when we are reciting the Attahiyaat, we should not possess this belief, rather we should believe that we are directly addressing the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and sending Salaams to him, upon oneself and upon all the pious of the Ummah.
It is recorded in the books, "Tanweerul Absaar" and "Sharah Durre Mukhtaar" that, "The intention which one must possess at the time of reciting the Tashahud is the concentration on the meaning of this, that is, in other words, one must remember that one is sending Salaams upon the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) and that one is praising Allah Almighty. One must be assured of the fact that one is sending Salaams and not merely relaying a message."
Words of similar effect are also found in the books of Jurisprudence, "Fatawa Alamgeeri" and "Sharhe Qudoori".
Allama Hasan Sharanbulaani (radi Allahu anhu), in his book, "Maraqi-ul-Falah" states: "Numerous Ulema have in fact clarified this belief. There are some misled individuals who profess that because Angels are deputized to convey the Salaams to the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), one should not use the Harf-e-Nidaa. What these enlightened individuals have forgotten is that twice daily the deeds of the Ummati are placed in front of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). In many authentic Ahadith, it is quite clearly stated that all deeds of the individual are placed in front of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), the deceased family and the deceased parents."

The numerous Ahadith on the above topic, is evident in the book composed by this servant of Islam entitled, "Saltanatul Mustafa fi Malakoot-e-Kullil Wara."
Substantiating this, I will conclude this book by mentioning a Hadith reported by Hazrat Imaam Abdullah ibn Mubarruk (radi Allahu anhu), narrated by Hazrat Sa'eed ibn Musayyib (radi Allahu anhu), who states: "Not a day or night passes by, without the deeds of the Ummati are being placed in front of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). Therefore the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) recognizes his followers in two ways, firstly by their Alamat (signs) and secondly by their Amaal (deeds)."

This humble servant of Islam, with the Infinite Mercy of Allah could have compiled a more lengthy book concerning this issue, however, this is ample proof for a person possessing qualities of piety, justice and honesty. Certainly, for those who have Allah's guidance, a single letter is sufficient.

Mazaars of four buzurges inside a cave like room next to eidgaah in mehraulli
at hazrat aashiq allah's dargaah. Four buzurges are present inside the cave. I would like to
attract attention of people visiting dargaah aashiq allah, as three mazaars
have been destoryed by people due to greed of gold inside the mazaar,
and some people even tried to demolish the entire cave for construction work....

People should visit these mazaars which have been kinda abandoned,
greedy people are in search for chance to demolish mazaars and takeover the land,
people visiting the abondend mazaars will save mazaars going under wronge hands.

I was told all this info was shared with me by a flower seller at the dargaah of hazrat aashiq allah, just a humble request to make abandoned mazaars roshan by visiting there.

1. Hazrat Khawaja Nizamuddin Auliya (1238 - 1325 AD) also known as Hazrat Nizamuddin, was a famous Sufi saint of the Chishti Order in India. He was born in Badayun (east of Delhi), though he later settled in Delhi, where his shrine (Nizamuddin Dargah) is still located. His original name was Mohammed. He was the son of Ahmad Dainiyal, who came to Badayun from Ghazani in the year 1234-35. At the age of 20, Nizamuddin went to Ajodhan (the present Pak Pattan in Pakistan) and became the disciple of Fariduddin Ganj-i-Shakkar. He was also the spiritual master of Amir Khusro. He died in the forenoon of 3rd April 1325.

Nizamuddin Dargah is the mausoleum of Delhi's most famous Sufi saint Nizamuddin Auliya. It is visited daily by many of people of all religions. The tomb of Amir Khusro is also located within the Nizamuddin Dargah Complex

The neighbourhood of Delhi where the mausoleum is located is called "Hazrat Nizamuddin" or simply "Nizamuddin" because of this. It's divided in two parts along Mathura Road: Nizamuddin West where the Dargah Complex and a lively muslim market are situated, and Nizamuddin East, an upper-class residential area situated between the Humayun's Tomb Complex and the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station.

A stone at the enterance of hazrat qutub sahaab's dargaah shareef, it is said whenever hazrat nizamuddin aulia used to visit his dada pir's mazaar shareef i.e qutub sahaab, out great respect for his dada pir and because of great adab for dada pir, hazrat nizamuddin aulia (r.a) did not use to enter qutub sahaab's dargaah shareef.

And just outside the enterance of dargaah shareef meboob-e-illahi use to sit on a stone and recite fateha and make dua, and use to return from there only, that stone is now placed just inside the enterance of qutub sahaab's dargaah shareef.

2. Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki

Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki was a renowned Muslim Sufi mystic, saint and scholar in the Chishti Order from Delhi, India. He was the disciple and khalifa (spiritual successor) of Moinuddin Chishti as head of the Chishti Order. His most famous disciple and spiritual successor was Baba Fareed.

Khwaja Qutbuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki was born in 569 A.H. (1173 C.E.) in a town called "Aush" or Awash in Mawar-un-Nahar (Transoxania). Khwaja Qutbuddin's original name was "Bakhtiyar" but his title was "Qutbuddin". The name "Kaki" to his name was attributed to him by virtue of a miracle that emanated from him at a later stage of his life in Delhi. He also belonged to the direct lineage of the Holy Muhammad, descending from [[Husayn ibn Ali|Hussain Bin Ali). Khawaja Bakhtiyar Khaki was one and half years old when his father died. His mother arranged for him very good education and training.

When Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti went to Isfahan, 40 days before his demise, he took oath of allegiance at his hands and received the Khilafat and Khirqah (Sufi cloak) from him. Thus, he was the first spiritual successor of Khawaja Gharib Nawaz, Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti r.a. Thereafter, his spiritual master asked him to go to India and stay there.
When Khwaja Qutbuddin r.a. intended to kiss the feet of his Pir and Murshid and seek his permission to depart, Khwaja Moinuddin understood it and asked him to be nearer, and when Khwaja Bakhtiyar stepped up and fell at his Pir's feet, Khawaja Moinuddin raised him up and embraced him affectionately. A Fateha was then recited and Khwaja Moinuddin advised his Murid: "Never turn your face from the right path of Sufism and Truth. Prove yourself to be a brave man in this Divine Mission." When he again fell at the feet of Khwaja Moinuddin overwhelmed with love and grief at this tragic hour of parting, he was again raised and embraced affectionately by his Pir. Following this order, he went to Delhi and stayed there. It was the period of Sultan Shamsuddin Iltutmish.

Hardly twenty days had passed when news was brought by a messenger that Khawaja Moinuddin disappeared into the eternal Divine bliss of the Almighty Allah.
Khwaja Bakhtiyar Kaki used to offer 95 Rakats of Salah [sections of prayer] during the 24 hours of day and night, along with 3000 Durud Sharifs [a part of prayer] every night upon the soul of the Holy Prophet s.a.w.s. During the first 3 nights of his first marriage, he could not maintain the Durud Sharif. The Holy Prophet s.a.w.s. sent a visionary message to a pious person named Rais Ahmed, asking Hazrat Bakhtiyar Kaki r.a. the reasons for his not reciting the Durud Sharif. Hazrat Bakhtiyar Kaki r.a. divorced his wife forthwith as a mark of repentance and thereafter broke off all worldly ties and devoted his full time to the devotion of God.

It is narrated that in the early stages of his life, Hazrat Khwaja Qutbuddin r.a. would take a nap, but in the last part of his life he kept awake all the time. He had also committed the Quran to memory and used to recite and finish it twice daily. Whenever anything came to his Khanqah, he quickly distributed these to the poor and needy. If there were nothing, he would request his attendants and mureeds to distribute plain water as a humble token of his hospitality.
Sheikh Nur Bux has written in his book entitled "Silsila tuz'zah": "Bakhtiyar Aushi was a great devotee, mystic and friend of God. In private and public he was indulged in the remembrance of God. He was habituated to eat little, sleep little and speak little. He was a towering personality in the world of mysticism."
He had no parallel in abandoning the world and suffering poverty and hunger. He kept himself engrossed in the remembrance of Allah. Whenever someone came to him he would come back to his senses after a while and was then able to talk with him. After a very brief exchange he would show his inability to continue any longer and slipped into the same state of absorption once again.
Once Hazrat Khwaja Qutbuddin was coming back with his relatives and disciples after offering Eid Salah [Eid prayers] that he, all on a sudden, halted at a place in silence. After a while his relatives submitted: "Today is the Eid day. Many people would be awaiting his arrival." Having heard this Hazrat Khwaja r.a. came out of his lost state and uttered, "From this piece of land I have the smell of the perfect men."
Thereafter, he came home and after the meal was over, he asked the people to call the owner of the land to him. When the owner came to him, he purchased that piece of land from him. Later, Hazrat Bakhtiyar r.a. was buried in the same soil.
Death also came to him in an unusual manner. It is stated that once in an assembly of Sama [religious music] he happened to hear a verse of Hazrat Ahmad Jam with the meaning: "Those who are killed with the dagger of surrender and pleasure get a new life from the Unseen."
Hazrat Khwaja Bakhtiyar Kaki r.a. was so much absorbed in and inspired with this verse that from that day on he kept on reciting it in a state of unconsciousness and gave his life in the same state. He remained in this state of Wajd for 3 consecutive days and expired on the 4th day. He died on the 14th of Rabi-ul-Awwal 633 A.H. On account of his extraordinary death, Hazrat Khwaja Qutbuddin Bakhtiyar Kak ir.a. is known as "Shahid-e-Mohabbat" or Martyr of Allah's Love.

Amir Khusro : Ab'ul Hasan Yāmīn al-Dīn Khusrow (1253-1325 CE), better known as Amir Khusro Dehlavi or Amir Khusraw Balkhi in Afghanistan and Iran (in Persian ), is one of the iconic figures in the cultural history of the Indian subcontinent. A Sufi mystic and a spiritual disciple of Nizamuddin Auliya of Delhi, Amir Khusro (or Khusrau or Khusraw) was not only one of India's greatest poets, he is also credited with being the founder of both Hindustani classical music and Qawwali (the devotional music of the Sufis). He was born of a Turkish father, Saif Ad-din, and an Indian mother, in India.

4. Dargah Of Hazrat Shah Turkman Bayabani East of Turkman Gate on Asaf Ali Road, just before the Holy Trinity Church lies the dargah (shrine) of a very pious and holy Muslim saint, Hazrat Shah Turkman Bayabani. The shrine is said to be the oldest place in the whole of Old Delhi, as it had been here even before Shah Jahan's new capital city Shahjahanabad was built. Turkman Gate was named after this saint who died in 1240 AD. The saint belonged to a special sect known as Bayabani, who believed in praying and living alone in a secluded place, close to nature, away from the inhabited area. One can very well imagine that this place in the early 13th century must be a densely wooded area quite far from any habitation.

At present, the shrine is located in a thickly populated area but still the small decent white building, which marks the shrine, is still close to nature as it is situated under a huge tree. The grave is inside this building and is covered with a bright colored cloth and flowers with incense sticks are lighted in a corner. The shrine is quite popular among the local people.

5. Ghaziuddin Khan's Madarsa and Tomb : Located near Ajmeri Gate in Old Delhi, Ghaziuddin's madarsa and tomb was built Mir Shahbuddin, a highly respected and influential courtier and minister during the reign of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The title of 'Ghazi-ud-Din Khan' was conferred on him and his son Mir Qamar-ud-Din was the founder of the dynasty of Nizam of Hyderabad. The madarsa was built in 1692. English classes were introduced in 1824 and it came to be known as Anglo-Arabic School and later Anglo-Arabic College. The building has a large enclosure of arcaded apartments where the madarsa used to function. The entrance to this madarsa, which is one of the fine examples of madarsa architecture in Delhi, is through the eastern gate.

There is a mosque just west of the madarsa, which is surmounted by three domes and flanked by minarets. The prayer hall of the mosque has arched openings. Further on both sides of the mosque towards its north and south lie the two enclosures, which contains some graves. The enclosures have perforated stone screens. Among the three graves in the southern enclosure is one of the graves of Ghaziuddin Khan. Red sandstone has been used in each structure here, which gives a unifying look to the building.

6. Hazrat NasirudDin Mahmud. Entitled Raushan Chiragh-i-Dihli : The Dargah of Chiragh-i-Dihli is located in the Chirag Delhi Village and can be reached by either taking the Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg through the Chiragh main road or the Outer Ring Road through the Soami Nagar South Colony. It is the burial place and tomb of Sufi saint Nasir-ud-Din Mahmud. Entitled Raushan Chiragh-i-Dihli, which means the 'Illuminated lamp of Delhi', the saint died in the year 1356. He was a disciple of Hazrat Nizamuddin, whom he succeeded as the head of the Chisti sect. The village of Chirag Delhi, now an urban settlement gradually grew up around this sacred tomb and was earlier enclosed within rubble-built rectangular walls with gateways on each side, built by Muhammad Bin Tughlaq (1325-51).

The main tomb of the devout saint is a square chamber supported on twelve pillars and surmounted by a dome with turrets on every corner. Like the dome of Mubarak Shah's tomb, the dome here also rises from an octagonal drum and is a plastered one. Several additions have been made in the shrine complex from time to time. At present there are several structures in the complex like the assembly hall (Majlis-Khana) or the symposium hall (Mahfil-Khana), apart from many graves and tombs of eminent personalities inside the enclosure. There are also several mosques in the Dargah enclosure. King Farrukhsiyar built one among them in the early 18th century to pay homage to the great saint.

7. Hazrat Shiekh Abu Bakr Tusi (ra) alies Hazrat Mataka Shah Baba ,Delhi.

While going towards the famed Purana Qila, one can spot a tree within a place of worship from which hang several earthen clay pots. And the compound in which the tree is located is none other than the dargah of Baba Matka Pir which is open to all faiths for worship.While some of the pots are on kekar trees, many others hang from bamboo sticks dug into the ground. To get to the main dargah, one has to climb stairs and one gets to the spot where the pir stayed.
The dargah has an interesting background and the pir whose original name was Hazrat Sheikh Abu Bakr Tulshi Haideri Kalandari Rahmatullah, was supposed to have come from Iran over 750 years ago.

Mataka's (pitcher) were also hanged on the trees around the Shrine of Hazrat Mataka Shah Baba ,Delhi .

The story goes that one day a thirsty traveller came to him asking for water and the pir offered him water from an earthen pitcher.The traveller then told him that he was suffering from a disease which apparently did not have any cure.The pir said that he would pray for him and when the man returned after some days he was said to have been cured completely of the disease. After the incident, people started thronging the dargah to seek the blessings of the pir. And while they narrated their problems, he would pray for them and the problems would be solved.

It is said that the then sultan of Delhi,Sultan Ghiyasuddin Balban, was keen to test the powers of the pir.He sent him a platter full of iron balls and mud for a start. It is said that the pir covered the plate and started praying. After a while when he lifted the cover, he found that the iron balls had converted into roasted gram and the mud into gur.The baba then mixed part of the gur with the gram and a part with water which then changed into sweet milk. And on account of this even to date, people offer roasted gram, gur and milk in earthen pots after someone’s wish is fulfilled.

The baba then was referred to Baba Matka Pir.

It was an irony that the miraculous powers of the baba were responsible ultimately for his death.He was known for converting lumps of mud into gold which he would then distribute among the needy and the very poor.On account of this, a large number of his diciples thaught that the baba may have kept loads of gold hidden in the dargah. And one day some of them got together and murdered the saint.They made efforts to get the booty , but there was nothing to be found there.

8. The shrine of Hazrat Kalimullah Shah, opposite the Red Fort, always draw a crowd of eager faces when the quwalli is being sung while the incense of joss sticks pervades the shrine. Alongside the saint’s velvet-covered tomb are the graves of his father and daughter. The marble shrine and the unorthodox mosque which is squarish was constructed by the late Sajjadanashin caretaker of the shrine. The saint was the man who took on himself the task of bringing about a moral reawakening during the last days of the reign of Aurangzeb. The saint was born in Delhi around 1650 and his father, Sheikh Noorullah, was a well-known astronomer, calligraphist and professor of theology and he studied theology under the guidance of Sheikh Bunharuddin and Sheikh Bahlool, two famous ulemas of the time. After completing his studies, he renounced the world and became a sufi. At the place where the shrine is situated once stood Khanam-ka-bazaar which housed khanqa— a religious abode-cum-inn which was later converted into a college.

There are several stories about the miracles performed by the saint including one in which he commanded the Yamuna to behave itself when the river flooded half of Delhi and he was also supposed to cure disease including the blindness of a girl. Every year, a two-day urs is held at the shrine which is attended by those who are on their way back from the pilgrimage to Ajmer Sharif. But of late, the shrine has lost a lot of its charm because of the market and residential quarters that have sprung up. Across the road from the mazar of Kalimulla Shah, is the shrine of Bhure Shah, another well-known saint while towards the Jama Masjid, the twin shrines of Hare Bhare Sahib and Sarmad Shaheed stand. Close to the Chandni Chowk end of Jama Masjid is a small grave where an old woman sometimes sits and in the evening someone lights an oil lamp.

Though it is a shrine, it is not known after whom it is named or even who built it. While one enters Ballimaran after crossing Chandni Chowk, one enters gali Qasim Jan where another saint, Kale sahib used to stay. Though the haveli of Kale Sahib does not exist today, the compound exists and it has become a slum as compared to the days when Mirza Ghalib stayed there after his release from prison for default in payment. It is said that Kale Sahib might have been visiting the shrines of Kalimullah, Bhure Shah and those of Hare Sahib and Sarmad. Later, however, the people began discussing about his saintly powers also. However, Ghalib never attended quwwali sessions at the shrines of the saints for in the evening he was either busy with mushairas or too drunk to do anything except enjoy the company of his favourite dancing girl in Chawri Bazaar. It is a pity that many of the buildings of that golden era have become paper godowns or commercial offices that are still being computerised fully.

The Dargah of Hazrat Inayat Khan:The Indian musician and Sufi master Hazrat Inayat Khan’s journey with his brothers from India to the United States in 1910, and on to Europe in 1912, marked the beginning of the first wave of Sufism in the West (Rawlinson 1997) and the creation of what has been seen variously as a new religious movement (Melton 1986), a Western Sufism (Genn 2006; Hammer 2004; Hermansen 2004), and as a worldwide Chishtiyya Sufi diaspora (Ernst and Lawrence 2002). The order founded by Inayat Khan is now one of the oldest and most prominent Sufi orders in the West. It is a transnational spiritual movement with well-developed formal organizations and groups on virtually every continent. Inayat Khan was part of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century wave of the Indian diaspora. This early diaspora, a product of colonialism, involved mainly what has been described as ‘dispersal’– Indians journeying in search of a livelihood but also elements of ‘expansion’ – by Indian cultural elites.

By the time of Inayat Khan’s death in 1926 in Delhi on a return visit to India, there were several thousand mureeds in Europe and America. The Sufi work was, at first, continued in Europe by his brothers and then by a grandson until the 1980s. In 1993, after a period of co-operative leadership, Hidayat Inayat-Khan, the founder’s younger son, was recognised as the Representative General.

In 1926, Hazrat Inayat Khan returned to India, the country of his birth. After a brief illness, he passed away in Delhi on February 5th, 1927. According to his wishes, his body was laid to rest on a small piece of property not far from the grave of the Sufi saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia. The Dargah [tomb] of Hazrat Inayat is now a place of peace, prayer and meditation in the midst of the crowded city to which pilgrims come from around the world. It is also a centre for music concerts, lectures, conferences, and social programs helping the people of the surrounding district.

The elder son of Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan was Vilayat Inayat-Khan, who was trained and ordained as a Sufi Pir in the Chishtiyya, was also actively teaching in Europe and North America from the early 1950s to his passing in 2004, initiating several hundred murids into the Chishti-Inayati tariqat. The public face of his Order was at first called "The Sufi Order of the West" (after the name given by Hazrat Inayat Khan) and recently changed to "The Sufi Order International." His successor, Pir Zia Inayat-Khan, was ordained as a Pir in two branches of the Chishtiyya and is the current head of the Sufi Order International, with its headquarters in New York State, USA.

10. Shrine of Hazrat Bibi Fatima Sam (ra) ,Delhi. She is one of the pious and humble women devotees of the age. She is frequently mentioned in the discourses of Shaykh Nizam al Din Awliya' and his disciples. They say that the emperor of the masters, Shaykh Nizam al Din Awliya, frequently meditated in the shrine of Fatima Sam. Shaykh Farid al Din Ganj-I Shakar said , "Fatima Sam is a man sent in the form of woman".

Shaykh Nizam al Din said, " When the lion has come out of the forest, nobody asks if it is male or female ; the children of Adam must obey and show respect ,whether it is male or female. Now, in the stories of Fatima Sam there has been much said regarding her extreme piety and old age. I have seen her. She was a great woman. HAZRAT SHEIKH SHAMSUDDIN - AASHIQ ALLAH (R.A) - (1317)
The Dragaah is in mehrauli, ½ km away from EIDGAAH in north green area. A KACHHA ROAD leads to this dargaah, the road starts from the nrth of the EIDGAAH. It is a very famous DARGAAH.

It was built in 1317 by Sultaan Qutubuddin Mubaarak Shah Khilji (1316-20) during his reign. In the east of the DARGAAH, there is a hill on which the CHILLAGAAH of BABA FARID is situated, and the nearby hill around this DARGAAH has been a place of meditation for many great sufi saints.

LIFE
KHAWAAJA Sahib was the son of EMADUDDIN ABDAAL and his KHALIFA. KHAWAAJA was SHEIKH NAAMDAR "DEEGAAN-E-ROZGAAR" of his time. KHAWAAJA also got FAIZ (education) from SHEIKH BADRIDUDDIN GANJAVI. KHAWAAJA reached to the limits of ISHQ-E-HAQQIQI and MEJAAJI.

STORY
Once on the day of URS of KHAWAAJA'S father ghost (meat) and roti (chapaati) were cooked, but the guests came more than expected and the food was less for them. The khaadims told KHAWAAJA about this, and KHAWAAJA said there is no need to worry. KHAWAAJA asked them to cover the food and don't open it and look it and open it, and just say BISMILLAH and take out food in the name of ALLAH THE ALL MIGHTY, this will give BARKAAH and everyone will get food. The khaadims did the same as they were told by KHAWAAJA and he food was more than required.

When KHAWAAJA left his body 11 ramzaan 717 HIJRI (1317) in reign of SULTAAN MUBAARAK KHILJI, and the food is still cooked there and all the people visiting there are given as TABARUK till now from KHAWAAJA'S LANGAAR KHAANA.
(THE FOOD IS HERE LITERALLY IS BEEN COOKED ALL THE TIME).

15. Sheikh Najeebuddin "Mutwakil" Chisti "Sheikh Sahaab"

Dargaah Is there Near the Dargaah "Jama Masjid". 1st Mazaar Is Of Sheikh Sahaab's Daughter and Second Mazaar Is Of Sheikh Sahaab.

SHEIKH SAHAAB held a very special status among all the Sufis. Here khawaaja is known as SHEIKH SAHAAB. SHEIKH SAHAAB was the brother of BABA FARID (R.A). KHAWAAJA SAHAAB'S name was NAJEEBUDDIN but his title was MUTWAKIL.

MUTWAKIL MEANS THE ONE WHO HAS NO TRUST IN WORDLY THINGS, AND HAS LEFT ALL HIS WORK ON THE "TAWAKUL" (TRUST) OF ALLAH.
SHEIKH SAHAAB'S father's name was SHEIKH JAMAALUDDIN SULIEMAAN, who was from the lineage of AAMIRUL MOMMIN HAZRAT UMAR FARUKH. SHEIKH SAHAAB'S father came from GAJNI to MULTAAN in the reign of SHAHABUDDIN GOURI and settled in NATHWAAL MULTAAN, SHEIKH SAHAAB'S father was appointed KAAZIof the city. SHEIKH SAHAAB'S father married in this city and SHEIKH SAHAAB was born in NAATHWAL, in 559 HIJRI (1163)

Jama Masjid Built Near the Dargaah of Sheikh Sahaab

SHEIKH SAHAAB was three brothers, the elder one was EJAJJUDDIN MEHMUD, and then BABA FARID, and SHEIKH SAHAAB was the youngest of them all.
SHEKH SAHAAB came to DELHI with BABA FARID and on BABA FARID'S order settled in DELHI'S ADHCHINI VILLAGE, and also got KHILAAFAT from BABA FARID.
There lived a man called ATIK who built a masjid and he appointed SHEIKH SAHAAB the imam of the masjid. And when ATIK married his daughter he spend heavily on the marriage. On seeing this waste of money on the marriage SHEIKH SAHAAB said, if half the money would have been spend on the way of DEEN then it would have done a lot better. On hearing this ATIK felt really bad and removed SHEIKH SAHAAB from the post of IMAM. When BABA FARID got the news of this BABA FARID said "WHAT IF ONE TAMRI HAS GONE ANOTHER EITKAARI WOULD BE BORN." And during that reign a man called EITKAARI was born and came to SHEIKH SAHAAB and did a great service to SHEIKH SAHAAB.

When SHEIKH NIZAMUDDIN AULIA'S mother came to DELHI from BADAAIUN, she settled near SHEIKH SAHAAB'S house. SHEIKH NIZAMUDDIN AULIYA had great respect for SHEIKH SAHAAB, and after the demise of SHEIKH NIZAMUDDIN AULIYA'S mother MAA SAHEEBA, SHEIKH NIZAMUDDIN AULIA lived under the guardianship of SHEIKH SAHAAB. When YOUNG SHEIKH NIZAMUDDIN wanted to be SHEIKH SAHAAB'S MURID. SHEIKH SAHAAB told YOUNG KHAWAAJA NIZAMUDDIN, if you want to be MURID then be MURID of SHEIKH BAHAUDDIN ZAKAARIA or else BABA FARID. It was SHEIKH SAHAAB who introduced YOUNG NIZAMUDDIN to BABA FARID when SHEIKH SAHAAB took YOUNG KHAWAAJA NIZAMUDDIN to PAK-PATTAN to meet BABA FARID.

BIBI FATIMA SAM was a very pious lady, SHEIKH SAHAAB considered her as his SISTER. Whenever SHEIKH SAHAAB had nothing to eat, BIBI FATIMA SAM used to send ROTIS (CHAPATIES) as soon as possible to SHEIKH SAHAAB and SHEIKH SAHAAB used to except the ROTIES with pleasure.

Once BIBI FATIMA SAM sent only one ROTI, while excepting the ROTI with pleasure SHEIKH SAHAAB was saying "YA ALLAH AS YOU HAVE MADE THIS PIOUS LADY AWARE OF OUR CONDITION, HAD THE KING WOULD ALSO HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE, THEN THE KING WOULD HAVE SENT ANY GOOD THING FOR US." After saying this SHEIKH SAHAAB laughed and said "HOW KINGS WOULD GAIN THIS PIOUS STATE THAT THEY WOULD BE MADE AWARE?"

16. Hazrat Baqi Billah (raz) : O God bless our Master Muhammadwho opened what had been closed, and who is the Seal of what had gone before, he who makes the Truth Victorious by the Truth, the guide to thy straight path, and bless his household as is the due of his immense position and grandeur.

Allahumma salli ' wa sallim was baarik ala Sayyidina Muhammadil nil-fatihi lima Ughliqa wal khatimi lima sabaqa wan-naa-siril-haqqi bil-haqqi wal-hadi ila Sirati-kal-mustaqima sal-lal-lahu 'alayhi wa 'ala alihi wa-ashaabihi haqqa qadrihi wa-miq-da rihil-'azim.

He was the Knower, Annihilated in God (fana billah) and Existing in His Existence (baqa billah), who was lifted to the highest station of Vision. He was a Secret of Allah's Secrets and a Miracle of Allah's Miracles. He combined in his person the two types of knowledge: the Outer Knowledge and the Heavenly Knowledge. God gave him from the two Oceans, and conferred on himbAuthority in the two worlds of men and Jinn.

Imam Rabbani Ahmad al-Faruqi said, "Muhammad al-Baqi was the One Sitting on the Throne of all Shaikhs, and he was the Deputy of all Masters of the Naqshbandi Golden Chain, who reached the end of the Infinite, who achieved the highest states of wilayat (Friendship of God). He was the qutb (Spiritual Pole) who supported every creature on this earth. He unveiled the secrets of Reality. He was the Verifier of the Station of the Reality of Muhammad . He was the Pillar of the People of Guidance. He was the Essence of the Knowers and the Guide of the Verifiers (muhaqqiqin)."

He was born in 972 H. in the city of Kabul in the land of `Ajam which was a colony of the Sultanate of India. His father was the judge Abdu-s-Salam. He went to India in the first instance on personal business. There he was attracted to an attraction from God's attraction. He left this worldly life behind and sought spiritual knowledge from the Master of the century. He kept company with masters and saints, until he himself became an ocean of intellect and a saint of spirituality. He traveled continuously until he reached the city of Samarqand. There he connected himself to the Master of his time, Muhammad Khwaja al-Amkanaki. He received from him the Way of the Naqshbandi Order. In a very short time he received what most seekers require a lifetime to receive. He was elevated also through the spiritual care of Ubaidullah al-Ahrar. His honor became known everywhere. His shaikh, Muhammad Khwaja al-Amkanaki, authorized him to take followers and to train them in the conduct of the Order. He ordered him to go back to India. He predicted, "You are going to have a follower who will be like the sun." This would be Imam Rabbani Ahmad al-Faruqi.

He moved back to India and stayed in the city of Delhi-Jahanabad, which he filled with faith and knowledge and secrets and lights. Through him the Naqshbandi Order was spread with great swiftness throughout the Indian Subcontinent and millions of people were connected to him through his deputies. All nations in the Subcontinent were attracted to his knowledge and his Heavenly Power and to the Prophetic Characteristics dressing him. It became known throughout the Indian Subcontinent that anyone coming to him and looking in his eyes, or sitting in his association doing dhikr, would enter a state of Self-Effacement, through which he could reach a state of Annihilation, in a single meeting. By this miraculous power he attracted millions of people, until this Naqshbandi Order was on the tongue of every person in his time.

He did parda from this world on Wednesday, the 14th of Jumada al-Akhira, 1014 H., in the city of Delhi at the age of 40 years and four months. His grave is on the West side of the city of Delhi.

He passed the Secret to his successor, the Shaykh of this Chain, the Reviver of the Second Millennium, al-Imam ar-Rabbani Mujaddid alf-ath-Thani, Shaykh Ahmad al-Faruqi as-Sirhindi.

17. Hazrat Moulana Fakhrudeen Muhibbun Nabi Delhawi (rahmatullahi alaihi) was one of the most brilliant of Islamic scholars in India, as well as being one of the most popular of the Chishtia saints. Indeed, this noble personality's influence is so great that it is said that after Khwaja Moinudeen Chishti (rahmatullahi alaihi) and his immediate successors (the Big Five), Moulana Fakhrudeen (rahmatullahi alaihi) is regarded as being the most influential figure in the spread of the Chishtia order. All contemporary branches of the order are directly linked to the great Moulana, and his services and dedication to Islam have rarely been equalled.

Gone to Makkah from baghdad and medina sharif wher he heard his LAKAB- QAZI HAMIDUDDIN NAGAURI given by aaka(PBUH).and came to know that nagaur is in india.came to india in561 hizri.he taught quraan to KHWAJA QUTUBUDDIN BAKHTIYAR KAKI by almighty's order. came to india with his family and his father died there in delhi.started sama mahfil with qutub saheb in delhi. many people opposed the idea and said go and start sama mahfil in baghdad .then you can do it in delhi. then he went to baghdad sharif and started sama mahfil ther and came backto delhi to continue it in delhi an d this time it was done with large numbers.

The saying of aaka (PBUH) came true when he was made the qazi of nagaur city by king

He was from a jewish family. Latter embraced islam. He came to india and stayed at karachi in 1031 hizri.was agreat poet nad became agreat wali by his own ibadat. after becoming a wali people graduly came near him to get benifit from him.it was harming hazrat's contact with allah , so he came with an idea to drop his clothes forever and remained bair body for the whole life.stayed in lahore for 11 years. in 1044 hz went to hyderabad.came back to delhi and stayed with his spiritual master HAZART HAREBHARE SAAH for sometime and got bait and khilafat from him in CHISTIYA-NIZAMIA SILSILA.

At that time dara sikoh was the nominee of sahajahan but the rest of his sons was not in favour of sahjahan . and planned to kill him because he also had good relation with the oter casts also. later he was killed by aurangzeb and hazrat was also accused being his peer. all the other enemies of hazrat also were in support to kill him, but aurangzeb was reluctnat who was king at that time.

Once AURANGZEB'S daughter JAIBUNISHA was going through the jungle and saw that hazrat is making play palace in mud. she asked hazrat what are you doing .hazrat replied that making jannat.she said will it be sold. he said yes. than she asked what is the worth. Hazrat said one hukka of tobacco. She gave him his desire. Hazrat wrote outside the palace that i sold it to JAIBUNNISHA.

On that day AURANGZEB saw that palace in JANNAT and enqired his daughter she said all the happenings. then next day he went to hazrat and ask him for a palace in jannat, then hazrat replied that "such businees does not take place daily"

One day AURANGZEB saw hazrat on steps of jama masjid and said why dont you put on cloth on your body hazrat said do it by your own. he took blanket on hazrat which was laying besides hazrat and saw the blooded heads of his brother and nephew whom he killed. then hazrat said "should i hide this or my body"

'Ulama asked Sarmad what comes after "Laa Ilaaha Ill-ALLAH", he said nothing. He was sentenced to death. When his head was cut off it recited "Laa Ilaaha Ill-ALLAHU Muhammad ur-Rasool ULLAH".

An 'Aalim said very sadly this is what we used to ask, What comes after "Laa Ilaaha Ill-ALLAH", now he tells us. A voice came from the head, "No, Muhammad ur-Rasool ULLAH does not come after Laa Ilaaha Ill-ALLAH, it comes with Laa Ilaaha Ill-ALLAH. You always asked the wrong question".

IMAM AHMED RAZA'S BIRTH

Imam Ahmed Raza Khan (alaihir rahmah) was born on a Monday, the 10th of Shawaal 1272 A.H. (14th June 1856), at the time of Zohar Salaah in a place called Jasoli, which is in the city of Bareilly Shareef, India.

A few days before the birth of Imam Ahmed Raza Khan (alaihir rahmah), his father, Allama Mawlana Naqi Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah), had a wonderful dream. He immediately disclosed this dream to his father, Allama Mawlana Raza Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah), who interpreted this dream by saying: "This is a sign that you are going to be the father of a child, a boy, who will grow up to be pious and knowledgable. His name will gain prominence from East to West."

This was the good news that was given to Allama Mawlana Naqi Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah) concerning the birth of none other than the "emerald from amongst the Treasures of Almighty Allah", the "sweet-scented rose from the fragrant garden of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)", Imam Ahmed Raza Khan (alaihir rahmah).

The date of birth of A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) was extracted by himself from the Holy Quran. "These are they in whose hearts Allah has inscribed faith and helped them with a spirit from Himself." (58:2)

HIS NAME

The name that was given to him at birth was the beautiful name of "Mohammed." The name corresponding to that year of his birth was "Al Mukhtaar." His grandfather, a great Scholar of the Ahle Sunnah Wa Jamaah, Allama Mawlana Raza Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah), also gave the young child the beautiful name of "Ahmed Raza." It was by this name that he was famously known. Much later in his life, A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) added the title "Abdul Mustafa" to his name signifying his great love and respect for Sayyiduna Rasulullah (salal laahu alaihi wasallam).

The Grand Mufti of Makkatul Mukarramah, Sheikh Hussain bin Saleh Makki (alaihir rahmah), also gave him the title of "Zia'udeen Ahmed."

ILLUSTRIOUS FAMILY HISTORY

Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Al-Qaderi, was the son of Allama Mawlana Naqi Ali Khan, who was the son of Allama Mawlana Raza Ali Khan, who was son of Allama Mawlana Mohammed Kaazim Ali Khan, who was the son of Allama Mawlana Shah Mohammed Azam Khan, who was the son of Allama Mawlana Sa'adat Yaar Khan, who was the son of Allama Mawlana Sa'eedullah Khan (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in).

The great forefathers of A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) migrated from Qandhar (Kabul) during the Mogul rule and settled in Lahore. Allama Mawlana Sa'eedullah Khan, the first forefather of A'la Hadrat (radi Allahu anhum), held a high government post when he arrived in the Indo-Pak sub-continent. His son, Allama Mawlana Sa'adat Yaar Khan (alaihir rahmah), after gaining victory in the city of Ruhailah, was elected as the Governor of that city.

Allama Mawlana Hafiz Kaazim Ali Khan, the son of Mawlana Mohammed Azam Khan (radi Allahu anhum), was a Tax-collector in the city of Badayun. His son, Allama Mawlana Raza Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah), the illustrious grandfather of A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah), did not serve in the Government. It was from this generation that the heads of the family began to adopt Tassawuf as their way of life.

HIS FATHER: A'la Hadrat's (alaihir rahmah) father, Hadrat Mawlana Naqi Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah), received his education at the hands of his father, Allama Mawlana Raza Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah). He wrote more than 50 books, among them, "Suroorul Quloob fi Zikri Mouloodul Mahboob", which received a very high distinctive position amongst Islamic literature. The treatise is characteristic in its condemnation of the enemies of Islam, both internally and externally. A'la Hadrat's (alaihir rahmah) father passed away in 1297 A.H. (1880) when he was 24 years old.

HIS GRANDFATHER: One of the greatest Sufis of his time, Allama Mawlana Raza Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah) was born in the year 1224 A.H. He was also a great warrior and fought with General Bakht Khan against English invaders in the year 1834. He received his early education at the hands of Molwi Khaleerur Rahman. At the age of 23, he had already completed his Islamic education, earning certificates of distinction in various fields of knowledge. He passed away in the month of Jamaadi-ul-Awwal in the year 1282 A.H. (1866). A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) was at this time only 10 years old.

IMAM AHMED RAZA'S PIETY AS A CHILD

A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) was a child of 4 years when this incident took place. On that particular day, he was dressed in a long Kurta. As he stepped out of his house, a few female prostitutes walked past him. In order to cover his eyes, A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) quickly held the bottom of his Kurta with both his hands and lifted the Kurta over his face. When one of the prostitutes saw what he did, she said, "Well! Young man. You covered your eyes, but allowed your Satr to be shown." With his face and eyes still covered, the young A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) replied, "When the eyes are tempted, then the heart becomes tempted. When the heart is tempted, then the concealed parts become tempted." So shocked and affected was this woman on hearing such a reply from a child that she lost consciousness.

Another incident which happened in the Month of Ramadaan also s hows A'la Hadrat's (alaihir rahmah) piety and fear of Allah. Fasting was not Fardh (obligatory) upon him because he was still a child, but on that day he intended to keep fast. It should be known that for a little child to keep fast in India during the summer season was very difficult. The average temperature on a summer's day rises to approximately 50 degrees Celsius. On that day, the heat of the sun was intense. Hadrat Allama Naqi Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah) took his young son, A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah), into a room where sweets were kept. He closed the door and said, "There, eat the sweets." A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) replied that he was fasting. His father then said, "The fasting of children is always like this. The door is closed and no one is looking. Now you may eat." On hearing this, the young A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) respectfully said, "Through Whose command I am fasting, He is Seeing me." On hearing this answer from a little child, tears began to flow from the eyes of Hadrat Allama Naqi Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah). He then left the room with A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah).

IMAM AHMED RAZA'S FIRST LECTURE

Sayyiduna A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) delivered his first lecture at the age of 6 years. It was during the glorious month of Rabi-ul-Awwal. A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) stood on the Mimbar (Pulpit) and delivered a lecture before a very large gathering which also consisted of Ulema. His lecture lasted for approximately 2 hours. A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) spoke on the Wilaadat (Birth) of Sayyiduna Rasulullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). He brightened the hearts of the listeners with the love of Sayyiduna Rasulullah (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam). The people listening were thoroughly impressed by the maturity and eloquence of this lecture which was being delivered by a 6 year old child!

HIS INTELLIGENCE AS A CHILD

A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) was so gifted and intelligent that there was no need for him to study beyond the fourth Kitaab of his course under the tutorship of any of his teachers. He studied the remaining Kitaabs by himself and used to later ask his teachers to test him.

Once, his teacher asked him, "Mia! Are you a Jinn or a human being? It takes me much time to teach a lesson, but it does not take you much time to learn the same lesson." A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) answered, "Praise be to Allah that I am a human."

When he was 8 years old, A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) wrote a Mas'ala concerning Fara'idh (Fards). When his father looked at the answer, he happily remarked, "If only some adult could answer in this manner."

At the age of 10, when he was studying the Kitaab, "I'lm-us- Thuboot," under the guidance of his father, he noticed a few objections and answers of his father on the side of the page. A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) studied this book carefully and wrote such a well- explained footnote that even the need for an objection was ruled out. His father came across his research on that objection. He was so delighted that he stood up and held the young A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) to his heart and said, "Ahmad Raza! You do not learn from me, but you teach me."

Professor Dr Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Head of Department: Urdu, Sindh University, Sindh (Pakistan) said: "Allama Hadrat Ahmed Raza Khan is among the outstanding scholars. His deep learning, intelligence, vision and acumen, surpassed that of great contemporary thinkers, professors, renowned scholars and orientalist. Indeed, there is hardly any branch of learning that is foreign to him."

ASTONISHING EVENTS OF CHILDHOOD

At the age of 3, A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) was once standing outside the Raza Musjid in Bareilly Shareef. An "unknown" person, attired in an Arabian garb, approached him and spoke to him in the Arabic language. Those who were present and witnessed this incident heard the young A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) converse with the person in pure Arabic. They were surprised. The person who spoke to A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) was never seen again in Bareilly Shareef!

A Majzoob (one drowned in his love for Almighty Allah) by the name of Hadrat Basheeruddeen Sahib (alaihir rahmah) used to live at the Akhoon Zada Musjid in Bareilly Shareef. He spoke harshly to anyone who visited him. A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) wished to meet this Majzoob. One night, at about 11 o'clock, he set off alone to meet him. He sat respectfully for about 15 minutes outside the Majzoob's house. After some time, the Majzoob became aware of him and asked, "Who are you to Mawlana Raza Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah)." A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) replied that he was the grandson of Hadrat Raza Ali Khan (alaihir rahmah). The Majzoob immediately embraced him and took him into his little room. He asked A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) if he had come for any specific matter, but A'la Hadrat (alaihir rahmah) said that he had come to ask him to make Dua for him. On hearing this, the Majzoob, for approximately half an hour, made the following Dua: "May Allah have mercy on you, May Allah bless you."

History Haji Ali

Haji Ali
Honoring the Muslim saint Haji Ali this mosque was built in the middle of the sea with only a narrow path leading to it giving it an ethereal look. As per the Muslim traditions separate praying rooms for ladies and gents are provided here to pay their respects. It is set 500 yards into the sea and can be reached only in low tide. The Haji Ali mausoleum has an offshore location, opposite the Mahalakshmi racecourse. During high tide, the connecting causeway is submerged in water giving the impression that the mosque and tomb are floating out at sea in splendid isolation. This is The Haji Ali Dargah, the floating tomb of a wealthy Mohammedan merchant who renounced his worldly ways before embarking on a pilgrimage to Mecca.

The structure is a slim solitary minaret. It is linked to the mainland by a tenuous causeway, which is practically nonnegotiable during rough monsoon, tides. Behind the sculpted entrance, a marble courtyard contains the central shrine. Hundreds of worshippers stoop to press their forehead against the richly brocaded red and green chaddar covering the tomb, lying in an exquisite silver frame supported by marble pillars and is decorated with artful mirror work: blue, green, yellow chips of glass arranged in kaleidoscopic patterns interspersed with Arabic patterns which spell the ninety-nine names of Allah.

History
The legend goes that Haji Ali died on a pilgrimage to Mecca and miraculously his casket floated back to these shores. The mosque is picturesque with a vast courtyard and refreshment stalls. It contains the tomb of the Muslim saint Haji Ali. The saint is believed to have been a wealthy local businessman who renounced the material world and meditated on a nearby headland following a pilgrimage to Mecca. His devotees built the mosque and the tomb in the early 19th century. Alternate version says that Haji Ali died while on his pilgrimage to Mecca and his casket surprisingly floated back to Mumbai (then Bombay).

Attractions of the Mosque
The mosque can be reached only during low tide. The whitewashed mosque also has a cool courtyard generally full of people and refreshment stalls. The rocks exposed during low tide at the rare end of the mosque are a favourable spot to catch some cool sea breeze. There's nothing somber about the building's cool courtyard, which is generally full of chattering families and refreshment stalls.

Holy Tomb in Tanta

Hazrat Sayed Ahmed Al Badwi
The Shaykh al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi was a Muslim saint and also the founder of the Badawiyyah Sufi order. He was born in Fez, Morocco in 596 AH and died in Tanta, Egypt in 675 AH. He was noted for his ascetic behavior, and was also known to perform many miracles.
Many false stories have unfortunately also been attributed to him, including by those who claim to be Sufi teachers.

According to the famous Muslim writer al-Sayyid Muhammad Murtada al-Zabidi (d. 1205 AH), the full genealogy of al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi is Ahmad ibn 'Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr ibn Isma'il ibn 'Umar ibn 'Ali ibn Uthman ibn al-Husayn ibn Muhammad ibn Musa al-Ashhab ibn Yahya ibn 'Isa ibn 'Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Hasan ibn Ja'far ibn 'Ali al-Hadi ibn Muhammad al-Jawad ibn 'Ali ar-Rida ibn Musa al-Kazim ibn Ja'far al-Sadiq ibn Muhammad al-Baqir ibn [Zain al-'Abidin] 'Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Fatimah, daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah shower blessings and peace upon him and his family members.
His Life :
Al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi was the youngest of the seven children of al-Sayyid 'Ali. His siblings were al-Hasan (the eldest, born in 583 AH), Muhammad, Fatimah, Zainab, Ruqayyah, and Fiddah.
Even from a young age, al-Sayyid Ahmad was already known as al-Badawi (the bedouin) as he liked to cover his face, imitating the behaviour of the desert dwellers.
And while he was still living in Fez, al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi was brought by his brother al-Sayyid al-Hasan to meet a Sufi shaykh by the name of 'Abd al-Jalil ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Naisaburi, who recognized the spiritual talent of the young boy and gave him initiation into the Sufi path.
In 603 AH, al-Sayyid 'Ali heard a voice in his dream telling him to migrate to Makkah al-Mukarramah. So he took his family, including the seven year old al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi, to move to Makkah al-Mukarramah. The journey took approximately four years. They stopped at several places including Cairo, which at that time was under the rule of al-Sultan Sayfuddin al-'Adil al-Ayyubi.

When they finally reached Makkah al-Mukarramah, they were warmly welcomed by the leaders of the shurafa' (descendants of the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah shower blessings and peace upon him and his family members).
In Makkah al-Mukarramah, al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi studied and memorized the Quran. He also attended lessons on al-Hadith and on al-Fiqh based on the madhhab (school of thought in Islamic jurispudence) of al-Imam al-Shafi'i.
After being introduced to the world of Sufism, al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi would spent a lot of his time in spiritual seclusion. One of his favourite spots was on Jabal Abi Qubais, which is located near Masjid al-Haram.
In 633 AH, in a vision, al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi was spiritually visited by al-Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani (d. 561 AH) and al-Shaykh Ahmad al-Rifa'i (d. 578 AH) who invited him to visit their tombs.
The next day, al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi left Makkah al-Mukarramah and set out to visit the tombs of the righteous ones in Iraq, accompanied by his elder brother al-Sayyid al-Hasan.
Before they reached Umm 'Abidah, the resting place of al-Shaykh Ahmad al-Rifa'i, al-Sayyid al-Hasan decided to go back to Makkah al-Mukarramah for he missed his family. Al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi continued his journey alone and met with many adventures including defeating the enchantress called Fatimah near Umm 'Abidah.
In one of the most misquoted anecdotes, it was related that while al-Shaykh Ahmad al-Badawi was in Iraq, he was offered by al-Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani and al-Shaykh Ahmad al-Rifa'i [in their spiritual forms] the keys to the spiritual kingdoms of Iraq, Yemen, India, Iconium, and all the Muslim lands in the East and the West, for the keys were in their hands.
Al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi politely declined. [According to one version of the story, al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi said that he would only take the keys from the hand of the Prophet Muhammad himself, may Allah shower blessings and peace upon him and his family members.]
After visiting the tombs of the pious ones in Iraq, including that of his ancestor al-Imam Musa al-Kazim, and receving further spiritual illumination after spending some time in meditation there, al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi headed home.
Back in Makkah al-Mukarramah, al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi reported to his brother al-Sayyid al-Hasan on the offer of the keys to the spiritual kingdoms by the two spiritual poles al-Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani and al-Shaykh Ahmad al-Rifa'i.
Al-Sayyid al-Hasan told his younger brother, "Verily, inviting people to the path of Allah is the key to goodness. What al-Shaykh 'Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani and al-Shaykh Ahmad al-Rifa'i had wanted was that you follow their path in inviting people to God. And their path is none other than following the Quran and the Sunnah. This is the true path (tariqah) in Islam."
Al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi concurred with and appreciated the explanation given by his elder brother al-Sayyid al-Hasan.
He studied the Qur'an with the readers of the time. He possessed a courageous heart, and was called al-Badawi because of his stuttering. When the divine gifts came to him, drowning him in complete absorption in Allah, his life completely changed. He shunned the company of people; held to silence, and communicating only through gestures. (one line left out).
His state continued to grow until he became as he is known. In his sleep he saw three times someone saying, "Stand and go to place of the rising sun. If you reach there, then go to the place of the setting sun. Then travel to Tanta, for surely this is your place, O young man!" This was in Shawwal, 633 H.
He went to Iraq where he was welcomed by its Shaykhs, both living and dead. He took on the blessed Sufi Kharqa through the permission of Shaykh Bari who received it from Na'im al-Baghdadi who in turn received it from Shaykh Ahmad al-Rafa'i, may Allah be pleased with all of them. After reaching Tanta, al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi stayed at the home of a trader by the name of Rukain (also known as Ruknuddin) ibn Shuhait.
Al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi was very well received in Tanta. Many people came to visit him, for they benefitted from his presence and his teachings, and also from the barakah that flowed through him. It was reported that al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi once said, "The spiritual paupers (al-fuqara') are like the olive fruit. Among them are the great ones and among them are the small ones. For those who do not possess "oil", I will be their "oil". I will aid them in all their affairs and I will also help them overcome their difficulties. Not on my own efforts and strengths, but through the barakah of the Prophet, may Allah shower blessings and peace upon him and his family members."

His Tariqa :He took bay'ah from Shaykh Ibn 'Abd Allah al-Naysaburi, from whom there are a chain of seven shaykhs who received bay'a from al-Imam Dawud al-Ta'iy who received it from Habib Allah al-'Ajami who received from the Master of the Tabi'een, al-Hasan al-Basri, who received it from Sayyiduna 'Ali, may Allah illumine his face, who received it from al-Mustafa, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
His State :
He was a big Qutb, he could cause his murids to grow in ma'rifa by just looking at them. If he gave one of his murids a special look he would raise him to the Maqam of al-Shuhud. He used to fast continually for forty days, then break his fast. In most of his states he would stare upward to the sky with eyes of burning coal, shouting continuously.
His Attributes :
He was called the one with the two veils, for he always wore two veils. He was tall with thick legs, full arms, and a big face. His complection was between white and brown.

His Noble Sayings :
Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
The fuqara are like olives, among them are the big and small, and he who has no oil; and I am his oil. Meaning, whoever is truthful (sadiq) in his poverty, pure as the oil, living according to the Book and the Sunnah, then I am his help in all matters, providing for his needs in this world and the next-not by my power and strength but by the barakah of the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace).

O Abd al-'Al, beware of love of this world, for it corrupts the righteous deed as vinegar corrupts honey. Know, 'Abd al-'Al, that Allah said: "Surely Allah is with those who possess taqwa and those who do good" (16:128).
'Abd al-'Al, be concerned with the orphan, cloth the naked, feed the hungry, honor the stranger and the guest, perhaps then you will be among those whom Allah accepts.
'Abd al-'Al, you must do dhikr abundantly, and beware of being among those who are heedless of Allah the High. Know that every raka'ah at night is better than a thousand in the day.
The best of you in character is he who has the most belief in Allah the High. Evil character corrupts good deeds like vinegar corrupts honey.
'Abd al-'Al, this way of ours is built upon the Book, the Sunnah, sidq, purity, loyalty, bearing injustice against oneself, and fulfilling the promise.

Shaykh 'Abd al-'Al said: While serving the Shaykh for forty years I never saw him distracted from the worship of Allah for an instant. One day I asked him about the reality of poverty in the way of the sacred law (al-faqr al-shar'i) and he said: According to 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) the faqir (in Allah) has the following 12 signs: (1) he is an 'arif bi llah (i.e., having direct knowledge of Allah); (2) he is obedient to Allah's commands; (3) he holds to the Sunnah of the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace); (4) he is always pure; (5) in every situation he is pleased with Allah; (6) he is certain of what is with Allah; (7) he is despairing of what is in the hands of mankind; (8) he bears [patiently] with hardships; (9) he hastens to fulfill Allah's command; (10) he shows compassion for mankind; (11) he is humble before people; (12) he knows that Shaytan is his enemy according to what Allah the High says: "Surely, the Shaytan is your enemy, so take him for an enemy" (35:6).

Then Shaykh 'Abd al-'Al asked him about reflection, tawbah, dhikr, love of Allah (wajd), sabr, zuhd, iman, and his shaykh and teacher, Ahmad al-Badawi, answered him in such a way that it quenched the fire of rancor, comforted the ill, and demonstrated Allah's knowledge (of all things). These words, known to the nobles of knowledge and the Sufis, were found scattered about, but the Sayyid revealed their reality, exposing them with purity and clarity. He said the following about the above mentioned technical terms:
Reflection (tafkir): Reflection upon Allah's creatures and His creating not upon His essence, for surely thinking cannot encompass Him.
Tawbah: Its reality is regret for wrongs committed, abandonment of disobedience, asking for Allah's forgiveness with the tongue, resolve not to return to the disobedience, and purity of heart. This is the tawbat al-nasuh (sincere tawbah) to which Allah orders us in His Mighty Book: "O you who believe, turn in repentance to Allah a sincere turning" (66:8).

Dhikr: The reality of dhikr is that it is with the heart not by the tongue only. Dhikr with the tongue without the heart is shallow. Remember Allah with a heart that is present and beware of being distracted (ghaflah) from Allah, for surely it causes the heart to become hard.
Wajd: Wajd is when the dhikr of the Real, la ilaha illa hu, increases so that a light is cast into the heart from Allah's presence, until the skin thrills, and there is longing for the Beloved, la ilaha illa hu. The murid clings to wajd and attaches himself entirely to Allah. When the wajd increases and he becomes distracted in passionate love so that it becomes excessive, then the murid reaches the high rank of spiritual elevation.

Patience (sabr): It is pleasure with the hukm (ruling) of Allah and submission to His command. It is when man rejoices in misfortune just as he rejoices in good fortune. Allah says: "And give good news to the patient, who when a misfortune befalls them, say: surely we are Allah's and to Him we surely return" (2: 155-156).

Zuhd: Zuhd is opposing the nafs by leaving worldly desires; and leaving the seven doors of the permitted in the fear that one may fall into the prohibited.
Iman: Iman is the most precious thing; he who has the most belief (iman) has the most taqwa. When the character (akhlaq) of the murid is good, his iman increases; the best of you in character is he who has the most belief in Allah.

When imparting counsel to his khalifah, 'Abd al-'Al, Shaykh al-Badawi said: Don't rejoice over the misfortune of any of Allah's creatures or utter words that slander or defame. Never harm someone who has harmed you. Show concern for someone who has wronged you. Do good to whoever has done you evil and give to whoever has withheld from you. Do you know who is the true, patient faqir? I said: Please, continue to give me what is beneficial. Shaykh al-Badawi continued: He is the one who when he gives he doesn't ask to be thanked. And when the patient man losses his patience because of Allah's hukm (ruling; i.e., He causes events to occur that break the faqir's patience), he acts according to the Book and the Sunnah.
The following words transmitted by Sayyid al-Bakri are the ultimate expression of the secret of Shaykh al-Badawi's great spiritual nature: He who has no knowledge ('ilm) will have no worth (qimah) in this world or the next. He who has no forbearance (hilm) will find no benefit in knowledge. He who is without generosity (sakha') will have no portion of his wealth. He who has no sympathy and concern (shafaqah) for mankind will find no intercessor to plead his case (shifa'ah) before Allah. He who has no patience (sabr) will obtain no success and goodness in his affairs. He who has no taqwa (godfearingness) has no station (manzilah) with Allah. And he who is deprived of these six qualities has no place in the Garden (Jinnah).

His Nearness to Allah :
Hazrat Sayed Ahmed Al Badawi(Radi Allah Anhu) was drawing near to Allah until he reached the door of divine presence and said " O Allah please open the door for me" He was not getting an answer until he met some one by the grace of Allah, He saw that person on the street, an ordinary person, who looked at him and said "O Ahmad" He did not even call him "Shaikh Ahmad" to give him due respect. He said "O Ahmad" you need the key to Allah Divine Presence? I have that key. If u want it, come to me and i will give to u.

Many people among us , because they are proud of themselves refuse to accept facts and truth, although they know, as a matter of fact, that this is the right path. They are not accepting because of their ego say "NO" so Ahmad ego said to him, " How are u going to accept something from him? Dont accept the key from him accept Allah.So he said brother i dont take the key from u or any one else except the key maker. Who are u ? you are nothing.
Then he kept striving to reach the divine presence until he heard a voice saying to him, " O Ahmad", this life is the life of cause an effect, I will not give the key to u. My will is that the key to my door, for u is with that person so go and get it from him, Now the matter was selected he had heard it from Allah and has accepted.

Now he had to find that guide, but that guide had disappeared. He had left him for six months the guide was secretly observing Ahmad's heart seeing him search for him to and fro and pray to Allah day and night "O Allah send that person back to me" That person finally removed his viel he had been there all the time revealing himself and Ahmad saw him last. so the guide removed the veil and appeared to Hazrat Sayed Ahmed Al Badawi(Radi Allah Anhu) . You have built your knowledhe on a cliff. With a breath from the wind of ego , it is going to collapse. I have to first build for you a firm foundation. so , look into my eyes. Hazrat Sayed Ahmed Al Badawi(Radi Allah Anhu) look into the guide eyes and the guide immediately removed all the knowledge that Hazrat Sayed Ahmed Al Badawi(Radi Allah Anhu) has learned through books. "Through Books" means there are many things written which comes out fro the ego of authors. So he pulled out that knowledge from Hazrat Sayed Ahmed Al Badawi(Radi Allah Anhu) heart and disappeard. He left him for another six month not knowing even how to say, Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Rahim," and not knowing how to prounce the holy name Allah.

Everyone in the city now began mocking Hazrat Sayed Ahmed Al Badawi(Radi Allah Anhu) who had become insane after having been a great scholar. they thought that he was mentally ill because there understanding was limited. All they could see that he was following some one who was making him crazy, but Hazrat Sayed Ahmed Al Badawi(Radi Allah Anhu) knew that he heard the voice of Allah saying" your key is with that one. "No one can make him crazy-he was only after that person with all his focus.
If Hazrat Sayed Ahmed Al Badawi(Radi Allah Anhu) had accepted from the begening, when that one came to him by Allah wills, he would not have passed through this test at that time. why make yourself pass through a test? When u find the truth, the correct guide, accept him immediately! dont play games with ur ego. So the guide left him for another six months, then appeared to him another time. In those six months Hazrat Sayed Ahmed Al Badawi(Radi Allah Anhu) had been searchin for him again. when he finally apperead again, Hazrat Sayed Ahmed Al Badawi(Radi Allah Anhu) saw him and said " O my shaikh, i found u another time! " At that time the guide looked into his eyes and through them transferred from his heart to Hazrat Sayed Ahmed Al Badawi(Radi Allah Anhu) heart, internal Knowledge-the knowledge of the book and its secrets - giving, giving , giving untul light was coming from Hazrat Sayed Ahmed Al Badawi(Radi Allah Anhu) eyes, so much that anyone who looked into his eyes would die. After that he began to wear a veil(burqa). At that time he was abel to enter into divine Presence, and he recived that key he had been seekin so long.
Ahmad al-Badawi (rahimah-Allahu ta'ala) was one of the great awliya' and was the Khalifa to Shaikh Baree, who was one of the superiors of tasawwuf and the Khalifa to 'Ali ibn Nuaym al-Baghdadi, who was a great wali educated by Ahmad ar-Rifai (rahimahum-Allahu ta'ala), a possessor of karamat and a Sharif. Ahmad al-Badawi, who was a Sharif, too, passed away in Egypt in 675 A.H. Hundreds of thousands of Muslims have attained faid by visiting his tomb in Tanta every year, and nothing incongruous with Islam has happened during the visits. [Mir'at al-Madina, p.1049.] As to 'Abd al-Qadir al-Geilani and Muhyiddin ibn al-'Arabi (rahimah-Allahu ta'ala), their high status has been comprehended and explained in hundreds of books only by Islamic scholars who were talented like them. Al-Imam ar-Rabbani's (rahimah-Allahu ta'ala) work Maktubat is full of eulogy and praise for these great walis. And great scholar 'Abd al-Ghani an-Nabulusi (rahimah-Allahu ta'ala) wrote about their high honor in detail in Al-Hadiqa.
After the death of al-Sayyid Ahmad al-Badawi in Tanta, his followers came to visit his tomb regularly. Today, three special annual festivals are celebrated in his honour, the centre of which are held at the mosque bearing his name. The largest of these festivals is very popular and is attended by up to three million people from all walks of life in Egypt [and some parts of Sudan].

1. Almighty Allah first created the Noor of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) from His
Noor.
2. The first adult free male to accept Islam was Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (radi Allahu anhu); the first woman was
Hazrat Khadija (radi Allahu anha); amongst the children, Hazrat Ali (radi Allahu anhu); among the freed slaves,
Hazrat Zaid Bin Haarith (radi Allahu anhu); and amongst the slaves was Hazrat Bilal (radi Allahu anhu).
3. The first wife of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) was Hazrat Khadijatul Kubra (radi
Allahu anha).
4. Hazrat Khadija (radi Allahu anha) was the first of the Holy Prophet's (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) wives to pass
away.

A.H., fasting for the entire month of Ramadaan was made Fardh and the remainder of the fasts was made Nafil
(optional).
15. The first Muslims migrated towards Abyssinia.
16. The first battle to take place was the Ghazwa Abwaa.
17. The first Sadqa was given by Hazrat Adi bin Haatim (radi Allahu anhu) on behalf of his people.

25. The first Shaheed (Martyr) was Sayyiduna Amaar bin Yaasir (radi Allahu anhu).

37. The first translation of the Holy Quran was in Persian. Sayyiduna Sheikh Saadi Shiraazi (radi Allahu anhu)
accomplished it.
38. The first Urdu translation of the Holy Quran was made in the year 1774 by Shah Rafi'ud'deen (radi Allahu
anhu).

Are they waiting for anything except the Hour, to come to them suddenly? But its Signs have already come!" (Al-Qur’an, Surah Muhammad)

Past

1. Splitting of the Moon.

2. Death of the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

3. A form of death which will kill thousands of Muslims. (Understood to refer to the plague of Amwas during the
caliphate of ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab.)

4. A major fighting in Madinah (understood to refer to the battle of al-Harrah during the caliphate of Yazid, 63 AH).

5. The Muslim conquest of Jerusalem.

6. The Muslim conquest of Constantinople.

7. Two large groups of Muslims will fight in war.

8. A war between the Muslims and a reddish people with small eyes, wearing sandals made of hair (understood to refer to
the Mongol Tatar invasion of the Islamic lands.)

9. A peace agreement between the Muslims and non-Muslims from the yellow race (Chinese, Mongols, etc.)

10. Thirty impostors (dajjal) will appear, each thinking he is a prophet.

Present?

11. Naked, destitute, barefoot shepherds will compete in building tall buildings.

12. The slave-woman will give birth to her master or mistress.

13. A trial (fitnah) which will enter every Arab household.

14. Knowledge will be taken away (by the death of people of knowledge), and ignorance will prevail.

21. A man will pass by the grave of another and wish he was in the latter’s place.

22. Trustworthiness will be lost, i.e. when authority is given to those who do not deserve it.

23. People will gather for prayer, but will be unable to find an imam to lead them.

Future

24. The number of men will decrease, whilst the number of women will increase, until for every man there are 50 women.

25. The Euphrates will reveal a treasure of gold, and many will die fighting over it, each one hoping to be the one who gains
the treasure.

26. The Romans (Europeans) will come to a place called A’maq or Wabiq, and an army of the best people will go forth from Madinah to face them.

27. The Muslim conquest of Rome.

28. The Mahdi (guided one) will appear, and be the Imam of the Muslims.

29. Jesus Christ will descend in Damascus, and pray behind the Mahdi.

30. Jesus will break the cross and kill the swine, i.e. destroy the false christianity.

31. The Antichrist (al-masih al-dajjal, the false christ) will appear, with all his tools of deception, and be an immense trial. He will be followed by 70,000 Jews from Isfahan (present-day Iran).

32. The appearance of Ya’juj and Ma’juj (Gog and Magog), and the associated tribulations.

33. The emergence of the Beast from the Earth, carrying the Staff of Moses and the Seal of Solomon, who will speak to the people, telling them they did not believe with certainty in the Divine Signs.

34. A major war between the Muslims (including Jews and Christians who truly believe in Jesus after his return) led by the Imam Mahdi, and the Jews plus other non-Muslims led by the Antichrist.

35. Jesus will kill the Antichrist at the gate of Ludd (Lod in present-day Israel, site of an airport and a major Israeli military base).

36. A time of great peace and serenity during and after the remaining lifetime of Jesus.

37. Wealth will come so abundant that it will become difficult to find someone to accept charity.

38. Arabia will become a land of gardens and rivers.

39. Society will then decay.

40. The buttocks of the women of the tribe of Daws will again sway in circumambulation (tawaf) around the idol Dhul-Khulsah.

41. A great fire in the Hijaz, seen by the inhabitants of Busra.

42. Three major armies will sink into the earth: one in the east, one in the west, one in Arabia.

43. An Abyssinian leader with thin shins will destroy the Ka’bah.

44. The huge cloud of smoke.

45. The sun will rise from the west (its place of setting).

46. A gentle wind which will take the souls of the believers.

47. There is no-one left on the earth saying, "Allah, Allah" or "There is no god except Allah."

48. Eventually the Day of Judgment is established upon the worst of the people, who copulate like donkeys in public.

49. The blowing in the Trumpet by the Angel Israfil, upon which everyone will faint except as Allah wills.

50. The second blowing in the Trumpet, upon which everyone will be resurrected.

When you hear something malicious about someone, keep a favorable view about him/her until you attain full knowledge about the matter. Consider others innocent until they are proven guilty with solid and truthful evidence. [24/12-13]
Ascertain the truth of any news, lest you smite someone in ignorance and afterwards repent of what you did. [49/6]
Do not follow blindly any information of which you have no direct knowledge. (Using your faculties of perception and conception) you must verify it for yourself. In the Court of your Lord, you will be held accountable for your hearing, sight, and the faculty of reasoning. [17/36]
Never think that you have reached the final stage of knowledge and nobody knows more than yourself. Remember! Above everyone endowed with knowledge is another endowed with more knowledge. [12/76]

Introduction

Islam is a complete way of life. Islam provides guidance and regulations for even the private moments of a Muslim’s life. In the collective of Ahadith and Seerah of Rasulullah (Sallallahualay-hi-wassallam) there are numerous incidents and occasions when his companions came forward and enquired from him about matters related to private life and it’s problems. Even the womenfolk from his followers came forward and enquired with regard to matters that are related to marital life and it’s private issues. They did not feel ashamed or shy to learn the truth, nor did our Rasulullah Sallallahu-Alayhi-Wasallam)feel ashamed to expound the truth as the Quran Majeed says: “And Allah (Azza-wa-Jall) does not feel ashamed of the Haqq.” [33/53]

It is thus clear that there is nothing wrong in learning or discussing matters related to marriage and sex for the sake of educating ourselves Islamically. Today when the world is realizing the importance of “sex education” in their crude and rude outlook, then why should we as Muslims feel ashamed of reveling Islam’s decent and refined teachings in this field?

Due to constant exposure to pornographic material and other shameless literature, many Muslims have overstepped the limits of Shariah in the fulfillment of their sexual lusts and desires and thus brought upon themselves the harms of this world and the next, particularly in the form of certain deadly diseases, illnesses and infections. Many of them are blissfully unaware that there are any Islamic injunctions in this regard and due to sheer ignorance of Islamic regulations have transgressed the Laws of Shariah, thus causing harm and injury not only to themselves, but even to their partners and their yet unborn off-spring as the pages ahead will reveal.

Thus a need was felt to educate the Muslim public, particularly our younger generation and especially those prospective young couples that are on the threshold of entering into the sacred bond of nikah, in this often-neglected aspect of Islam, in order that their health and marital bond remain intact and protected from all harms and sorrow. It is hoped that every couple and couple-to-be will benefit greatly from this booklet. Insha-Allah.

Finally, a word regarding the material content of this book. The contents of this book have been extracted from authentic sources as the bibliography will reveal, Insha-Allah. The advices and observations on this topic are the result of years of experience, deep in sight and the spiritual foresight of our pious and wise elders, predecessors and Ulema. To cast any aspersions on their words and teachings would be tantamount to doubting their integrity and erudition. None who claims to be a true Muslim has the right to such presumptuousness. If the atheistic western scientists and their worshippers find any of these teachings to be non conformant to their “research and findings”, it is of no significance or concern to us. The “ever changing nature” of own their theories is proof enough of the flimsiness and uncertainty of their teachings, which are nothing but conjectural pastimes as far as we are concerned. The mocking, jeering and sneering of such people should be discarded with the contempt it deserves. The teachings of our great luminaries is and will always remain dear and precious to us. Insha-Allah.

May Allah (Azza-wa-Jall) make their booklet a means of reward and savior for this humble servant and make it a means of guidance and benefit to His sincere and obedient servants. Aameen.

Etiquettes of the First Night

In the ideal Islamic situation, the husband and wife will most probably be total strangers to each other, having no kind of personal contact with each other previously due to the strict laws of hijab and pardah in the Shariah,. Coupled with this feeling of strangeness are the natural constraints of haya and modesty, that form an integral part of Imaan. Under the particular circumstances it is quite natural that both the husband and wife will be extremely bashful of each other and under considerable strain and anxiety.

In order to “break the ice”, they firstly greet each other with the traditional Islamic greetings of salaam. Thereafter the husband should gently place his right hand on his bride’s forehead and recite

Translation:- “O Allah! I ask you of her goodness, the good within her and the goodness upon which she was created. I seek Your protection from her evil, the evil within her and the evil upon which she was created”.

Thereafter, wudhu and two rakats of salatul-Hajah maybe offered as a token of gratitude and thereby requesting assistance from Allah (Rabbul-Izzrat) for a successful and blessed marriage, pious offspring etc.

Thereafter, they may read some Deeni literature to each other particularly on the topic of Nikah, etc. In this regard Kitabun-Nikah, Hayatul-Muslimeen, etc are excellent material to study. If time and opportunity permits, this booklet should be read from cover to cover once at least on the first night.

One point of great importance that many newly wed, inexperienced men overlook is the importance of extreme gentleness and tenderness on the first night and during the first sexual encounter. Many are under the false notion that gentleness is against “manliness” and the harm and damage that is done to the relationship on the first night due to this foolish notion, has it’s impact on the marriage for months and years to come. During the initial stages of sexual union a virgin generally undergoes considerable anxiety and pain, which results in fear. During such a time the husband must take great care and consideration in his movements and behaviour towards his bride.

One more point of caution to the husband is never to harbour unnecessary suspicions against the wife if for some reason it “appeared” that she was not a virgin. This is a sin. It is forbidden to harbour ill-thoughts about the next Muslim merely on the basis of such conjectures. And worse still is to make her a target of abuse and oppression on this ground. This is Zulm (oppression) and a major sin. There are many reasons a girl could lose her “hymen”, the tissue of virginity-reasons that could be substantiated medically such as heavy flows during menstruation, illness, falling, jumping excessive, horse-riding, certain sporting activities, ageing etc.

Medical Advantages of Sajda

Sajda (Prostration) is a unique position or stance in the regular prayers, which a Muslim is supposed to offer at least five times a day. Although the basic purpose of obligatory prayers is not to provide an exercise for people yet it is being increasingly recognized that it has plenty of medical advantages for the human body.

Here it is worth mentioning that Holy Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) has mentioned in a hadith in Ibn Maja:' That prayer is a cure for many diseases'. The position of Sajda in which the forehead touches the ground is exclusively associated with the Muslim form of prayer. It is the climax of a Muslim's prayer and as mentioned in a Hadith a Muslim is nearest to Allah in this position.
The messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said: "The nearest a servant comes to his Lord is when he is prostrating himself, so make supplication' (in this state)" In a Hadith narrated by Anas bin Malik (R.A.) Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) advised Muslims to perform Rukuu (bowing) and Sajda(prostration) properly.
In another Hadith he sallallahu alaihi wa sallam advised to perform Sajda(Prostration) and Bowing calmly and to get up only when the body has come to ease. Hence the first positive effect upon a person who prostrates or does Sajda(Prostration) is that he comes nearest to Allah and hence in that condition he can supplicate.

Psychological advantage:
This is a great psychological advantage and it gives relief to the person concerned as life is full of worries and in this position he gets at least a transient refuge from the agonizing problems.
When a person goes to the position of Sajda (Prostration), his whole body is in active motion. This position can be considered as a mini dive as the musalli (one who offers prayer) goes to rest his forehead on the ground while his hands are placed at the sides. This brings most of the body muscles if not all in active motion and serves to give them some exercise. The hands are then specifically stretched out and thence the forearm as well as arm muscles are supposed to bear the weight in the Sajda (Prostration) position. It gives good exercise to the muscles of the upper limb. The Prophet (peace be upon him) in a hadith advised not to put the forearms flatly on the ground but to keep them elevated above ground and this is better for the forearm and arm muscles.
Sajda (Prostration) is a unique position as this is the only position in which brain (or head) becomes lower than the heart and hence for the first time the blood gushes towards the brain with full force whereas in all other positions (even when lying) brain is above the heart when it has to work against gravity to send blood to the brain. In the position of Sajda (Prostration) due to the increased blood supply the brain receive more nourishment and it has good effect upon memory, vision, hearing, concentration, psyche and all other cognitive abilities.
People who offer their prayers regularly have more will power and can cope with the difficulties of life in a much better manner.
They have less incidence of headaches, psychological problems and other defects of cognitive function. In the unique position of Sajda(Prostration) the neck muscles get best exercise. They have to bear the load when the forehead lies at the ground hence the neck muscles become stronger. One can note the tense pressure at the neck muscles in the position of Sajda(Prostration) specially the active motion of the neck and the facial muscles when the head is being lifted. (e.g. one inch above the ground) and it will be noticed that they are in a very active motion.
More strong cervical muscles mean the cervical vertebra will be better protected. Strength of cervical muscles is important as the head rests upon cervical vertebra supported by cervical musculature. In fact head performs rotator movements over the cervical vertebra. In any accident cervical neck examination is especially important to the physicians because of its extraordinary importance. It is uncommon that a person who offers his prayers regularly will get the usual neck myalgias or cervical spondylosis as the neck muscles particularly become very strong due to the 34 sajdas(Prostrations) offered daily in five prayers.
The unique position of Sajda (Prostration) also has positive effects upon the back muscles as while going into Sajda and getting up from it the back muscle contract actively and they become stronger. Probably it is because of this reason that a person who is regular in prayers will (rarely) get backache.
Finally it must be reminded that (even though) prayer is not meant to be an exercise, there are a lot of medical advantages associated with it.. Still the best blessing is the peace of mind, which a person derives by the accomplishment of his duty to Allah by fulfilling an obligation.

When the tracks were being laid there were a lot of accidents happening, then one day the engineer goa a dream in which he was told that a Beloved Friend of Allah is sleeping in the place where he is construction the railway track..and he was directed to leave that much space and then lay the lines.

The Engineer did the same and then he was succesfully able to lay the rail tracks and on investigation this Mazar of Hazrat Nanne Shah baba was discovered and constructed...
